                  Hi Strongy someone once told me the wider the leaves the less hardy, would you say that is true?

                    I reckon so, out of all the ones I have C. leavis which is wide leaved like citrinus Splendens is the only one damaged by frost and cold, all the others with narrower leaves have shrugged off -6/7cs.

                      I had C. splendens on my back wall, facing west, years ago and it survived, but it never survived anywhere else in the garden.

                          @Freddy our 6ft high Viburnum plicatum and an 8ft Philadelphus coronarius ‘Aureus’ next to it seem to have died from the drought. :cry3: We obviously didn't water frequently enough. :doh:

                            Some of our Aquilegias are coming back :blue thumb: but we still have downymildew in parts of the garden. :sad:

                            This shorter Thalictrum, about 4ft, is flowering but the giant 'Elin' won't flower until it has reached about 10ft
