          My runner beans are slow and i guess the relatively low July temps haven't helped.
          Then again my purple sprouting plants which i sowed indoors in mid April grew much too rapidly during the hot May and June.. They are huge and i just hope they don't bolt..

            Runners are still absolute rubbish here JR. I don’t expect them to be worth picking at all for the first year ever! The only things I’m harvesting just now are beetroot and courgettes!

              Soooo delicious...steamed and chunky chopped added to rough chopped onion and mayo... heavenly! You could then use the cooking juices to tie dye your favourite shirt a lovely shade of pink. Think how smart you would look Armandii!:panic:

                I expect a late show of runners this year.. (Grr i love them.)
                We've got great courgettes and beetroot too.. We'll try your recipe.
                I've got massive purple sprout plants, savoys, red kale, autumn king carrots and progressing spinach beet and toms.
                The beetroot is nice in oven roasted veg, together with the courgettes, onions, toms, potato wedges etc..healthy food!

                            Oh yes they did put a blob of jam on it but as broad as my tastes were (and still are) i didn't like the spawny texture.
                            For the same budget price they somtimes put out a nice rice pudding.. Much better!
                            Just a quick one on jam..
                            We always insisted on Wilkins of Tiptree premiun jams.. They are lush, but cost over 2 quid a jar.
                            So just for a try i got Aldi 'Specially selected' strawberry conserve. That cost 85p and it's honestly superb!
                            Fruit content 55%. Why not eh!
