The Ragwort is looking good this year @shiney

 

Tigridia pavonia 'Mexican Shell Flower/Tiger Flower'.

The bloom only lasts one day,..colours and markings vary.

 

That last one is different @glengarry23 ! I hadn't realised how large tigridia are until I saw some in real life last week - I had avoided growing them, thinking they were about the same size as sparaxis or ixias - but they're enormous! I'm going to try them next year. Do you buy new bulbs every year or do you manage to keep them?

Hi Caroline,..i should have included something in one of the images to show the actual size,..as you said they are quite a big bloom,..i said saucer to side plate size which is about correct as some of mine in particular the reddish ones are 15 cm = 6 inches,..i have mine several years,..certainly more than 5 years and was given 6 small bulbs about Spring Onion size,..now they have multiplied enough to fill 2 containers,..they don't sell them in stores here but perhaps they do in the UK,..when mine finish blooming and are cut back i can send you some if you want.

Ah yes that last bloom is different,..every year some appear like this,..plain markings and a light colour,..so far pink/White/yellow and the last image which is a weird colour.

 

Thanks for the info @glengarry23 - now that you've said they persist, I'm definitely going to get some. You can get them in Wilko here I think.

 

A mystery grevillea... I've had it in a pot in cold greenhouse for a while, and it's finally flowering. Of course label disappeared ages ago.I thought it might be a cutting from one of my others, but as you can see, it doesn't look like the G. rosmarinifolia that is shown behind it (flowers of that are smaller and plain pink). Its leaves are not like Mount Tamborithra or semperflorens, and the only other ones I have are Canberra Gem (red) and juniperina (yellow). It MIGHT be from seed from Australian Plant Society. So - any ideas? @pete, @strongylodon ...

This is a bit of the garden I replanted , I moved a huge eupatorium purple bush back last autumn ( its double in size this year its massive 5ft wide 4 ft depth at least ), some verbascum nigrum Album grown from seed - front Persicaria september spire ( new ) that to hide the gaping gap where the delphinium has been cut back to the ground , I can now see the hydrangea limelight which is due to flower anytime now. geranium orion front of border ( cant see ) with astrantia habspen blood. I do have my Rose lady of shallot which doesn't really fit , it was a impulse buy which is quite rare for me to do . The phlox is lynden monica bell highly scented .

This border is just warming up.
