Yes there are winter pansies and you should be able to find these in local garden centres and I seem to recall seeing some recently at Aldi. As Mike said there are a lot of bulbs you can plant now; also flowering cyclamen should be available.

Sorry, pete, I meant to respond to this.

Yes, I remember, the pips were from Anne's tree which she did from a pip. I never could get one going, perhaps the heat. I think there are several offspring around the UK now. Besides eating one or two a day, Anne made jam with them. A lovely peach. Do you get lots of fruit?

Ok, then maybe it is the other one from the village plant sale. Which means that the one you sent me is the one that croaked

It is the end of September and I have got an unusual surprise.
After several years of efforts to make my Bougainvillea IMG_20200928_151239.jpg flower at last it is in blossom!
Besides my second Canna has flowers for the first time. I bought it last autumn from Lime Park and never knew how it would look like in blossom. IMG_20200925_151836.jpg

To be honest peach leaf curl has pretty much stopped me from growing peaches any more.
I still have one tree, it got overgrown with other stuff, but I cleared a lot out last winter so it can breathe now, and it only came up with one fruit this year.

But I thought it was worth a mention:smile:

@Victoria I also had two stones sent from Anne but they too developed peach curl early on and were too infected to keep.:frown:

With the Eucomis, as long as you divide every few seasons, and each division has 2 eyes, you should be ok, but if you think the division, should go in a 9cm pot, put it in a 13cm pot, and expect a result 2 seasons on, left in a border, they self seed, and you get a clump forming over a clump, you get 1 or 2 stems per bulb, but dividing you can get 5 or 6 stems. Eucomis are from the Asaragacaea family, and should be treated like lillies. Moist in spring and summer, dry in late autumn winter.and like Asaragus the roots system can be finacky, go great guns for a few years, then give up the ghost, as mentioned they can self seed, and grow on top of older bulbous mass, however they seldom reach a peak, I have some Eucomis that give 30- 40 spikes a year, and are 15+ years old.

I saw a very interesting programme a few weeks ago,it may have been gardeners world on BBC.
It was showing Eucomis growing in S. Africa, might be on I player but worth a look if it is.
Apart from one very small species they all appear to be mostly bog plants.

Not a bog plant, the constant wet will rot the bulb.
