I have always had a great love for trees, so it has pleased me so much looking out of my sitting room window at the park opposite.

I think I commented on the abundance of berries on the Ilex, there is a good selection. Also a Arbutus unedo. Sadly some time ago, a family moved in locally, with several children, who lacked parental control. A large bough was damaged due to the kids climbing and swinging etc. I ended up contacting the council, and soon the damage was dealt with. However this left a very large area of bareness. Thankfully now, a mass of new growth has sprung up. The tree is covered in flowers and already masses of fruits. I will have to have a go at posting some piccies.

It's a shame the tree was damaged @Mike Allen but children do play on trees. I used to do it too, we had trees at the bottom of our garden.
There was an Oak tree on the banks of a canal near where I grew up and the local kids had a rope hanging from one of the branches, and we could swing out over the canal ....
until one day it broke and two boys ended up in the water and the 'grown ups' made us take the rope down :nonofinger::heehee:

I'm glad the tree in your park is recovering and has lots of new branches and flowers, maybe the kids will leave it alone now.

The Acer "Katsura" has decided to follow the Prunus "Kojo-no-mai" and start to change into it's Autumn and Winter foliage colours.

Amazingly, the Bees are still out and about and visiting the Sedum outside the Green House.

While the Rudeckia "Goldstrum" and dark wine coloured Hollyhock are still flowering away and even producing new flower buds.

@ARMANDII both our Katsuras and Kojo-No-Mai still have green leaves. Last night's cold spell may now make the difference.

The early morning dew makes for good photos :) (looks better on our computer as you can only just spot the perfectly spherical dew drops on top of the stamens)

@pete mentioned on another thread about large, lovely looking eating apples are too big for sale! These are some I've just picked.

These are an old fashioned eating apple called Charles Ross. They have been from a cross between a cox and a Peasgood Nonsuch (yes there is such an apple :heehee:). The Peasgood is considered a very good eater/cooker but becomes a sweet eater late in the season.

These are Peasgood Nonsuch with a Charles Ross between them.
            P1490977.JPG

They were originally grown by Emma Peasgood in 1860. When she tried to get them identified they couldn't work out their origin so named them after her. The Nonsuch part referred to there being none such apple like it.

They look really nice together, you have such a good eye for colour combinations, Perki! My Aster 'Monch' is flowering well but looking extremely leggy in a pot, I watched a YouTube video where the grower said it performs poorly in a pot but does better and looks much fuller in the ground, will have to try that.

BTW, what's that in the background, Eupatorium cannabinum?

Not sure on growing aster monch in a pot but they can get a tad straggly in the ground , best to give them a gentle chelsea chop to bush them out. It is a Eupatorium but one of the Maculateum group - Purple Bush - its a excellent variety has multiple side shoots unlike some and the wildlife go crazy for it.

@Perki Thanks very much for the advice, tried growing E. dubium 'Baby Joe' in a pot but it just died! I love the sound of 'Purple Bush', similar to cannabinum in height but much bushier, will certainly give that one a go! :) Haven't had much joy with the cannabinum (or even buddleias) and visits from butterflies this year but there's always next Summer!
