What about one of those little £5 rooted plants? I couldn't see the postage as they won't post here.

The one I ordered yesterday was posted yesterday :yikes: so we'll see how long it takes. The post was £3,80 so no complaints there. Delivery has been two weeks from the supplier I get plug plants from but within a week from Ireland. Other things from England take forever too but I had something from Scotland in three days.

Didn't notice where they were coming from?
I think the smaller ones I could see were all seedlings.
Given up on seed,it won't come true and how long they take to flower is a mystery to me.
Named cuttings for me if I try them again.

The little plants are from Nottingham. They are 6-10cm tall, sent bare rooted folded in moss. Appreciate if you want named rather than surprise.

Well I wouldn't mind surprise but I think with seedlings you have to wait a long time for a surprise.
My thoughts are named varieties will be cuttings from adult plants so hopefully more reliable regarding flowers.

:yay: My little plant arrived today ... so off I go to plant it. I shall keep it on the kitchen windowsill till it does something. It looks like a cigar ... or something else ... :heehee: Does it look as it should?

Yes it looks fine, just as long as there are some proper roots in that bag.;)

Be very careful with the watering until you get a good few leaves.

I'd treat it pretty much like a cactus at this stage.

Looks ok to me @Victoria, the one I bought in Madeira January last year was rooted in a small bag, I potted in on returning home and also kept it on the kitchen window sill. It didn't produce any leaves until the middle of April. I don't know how long before yours starts making roots but I would guess late winter/early Spring depending on the temperature.

I really like the second one. It doesn't say which one so I'll have to wait and see.

Forgot to say I put Cinnamon in the planting hole.

I sadly have to report mine died. :cry3: That's a £14 loss. As the house is not centrally heated it was just too cold on the windowsill with the cold nights. I have never received the seeds so will follow up on that.

They can be difficult to root and might be worth another try in the summer, I know I wouldn't even try it until May or June.

I agree. Guess I was a bit too optimistic. T'other Half off to the PO after lunch (they open at 2pm) so maybe my seeds are there and a certain missing parcel! Someone on the Portuguese forum says they are missing three from the UK ... one sent in October, one in November and they never expect to see the one posted this month!

I'm not experiencing any delivery problems in the UK.

My money is still on France being the problem.
Anything sent surface mail doesn't have a chance in that place:biggrin::roflol:.

I took the plunge and chopped one stem of 'The Twig'. There were two trunks but the leaves on one were much smaller and it just didn't seem to be thriving like the other one. I mixed up some very gritty topsoil with 30% MPC and stuck the 5 cuttings in that, after letting the ends dry for a couple of days. Has anyone got any tips for where to put them (polite answers only, please )? Do they need bottom heat? All advice gratefully received!
