Anyone got one of these? Are they easy to use? The arthritis in my neck makes using heavy or awkward tools very painful. We have tons of leaves which need clearing from the paths and the drive.

I find using them tests my patience, as I seem to be chasing the leaves into awkward corners and the twisting and turning trying to get the leaves also make me lean forward and results in a sore back:wallbanging:, so I tend to stand in the middle of the fallen leaves, get down on my knees and bag the leaves by hand. Getting up though is a lot harder than getting down on my knees.:old::doh:

Did some of that the other day and the result was extreme pain in my back. I cannot even kneel down these days.

Do you think we're getting old, Pal:scratch::doh::old::heehee: I, personally, find it easier to work on my knees when clearing debris from the borders or picking up leaves etc but, as I said, while getting down on the knees is easy, getting back up is nearly a major project!!:dunno::heehee:

The alternative is less attractive though.

Definitely. :blue thumb: I much prefer to see the daisies from above. :)

And I still need to collect up the leaves in an easier way than bending or kneeling. Blowing is no good as they still need putting on the compost heap. The machine which sucks them up does not like the gravel off the Drive either.

One of those jobs that unless you can blow them to an area to compost down it means bagging them. I normally use a tonne bag, blow into a pile then I stand on the edge of the tonne bag, just on the inside and spread legs and rake in.

Thanks, but they still need me to be able to bend down which is why I was asking about long handled ones.
As far as I can see no one seems to use them except for the people in our local park.

I have a set similar to these that my mom got me, they are pretty good and sturdy and can pick up a lot of leaves in one go.

Thanks Rusty. How easy are they to use? Remember that I have arthritis in my neck and so my shoulders become painful very quickly.

They are pretty easy. My mom got mine as I struggle with 2 elongated discs and one is crumbling. They work for me, but I don’t have loads of leaves to collect. It is only the patio from 1 tree, as I collect the others with the mower on a high setting.
