Ordered a replacement from another supplier, and that weighs 25% under, so that's also going back.

 

@Michael Hewett Your Peperomia looks different to the original caperata which has rounded dark green leaves or more recently reddish purple. It was originally sold as Rat's Tails Peperomia due to the thin flower stems (but I'm talking 40 years ago!!!!)

 

I don't blame you for sending them back @Scrungee we should get what we pay for.

Nothing to show yet but bought a load of new seeds for my lotty. After hearing about the possible lettuce shortage I thought I'd better grow some little gem lettuces and cut and come again salad leaves. I'm going to give growing bell peppers a good go this year - I have a feeling there will be a shortage of them also - or very expensive.

Start Little Gem seeds in pots in heated propagators under lights, then quickly get somewhere cooler to grow on.

I've always found beĺlpeppers a waste of greenhouse space.

 

. That's what I've thought in the past too, but we do eat a lot of them so I will give them a good try again this year. My farmer neighbour who has a little polytunnel managed to get corkers but mine seem to take ages to ripen.

 

Bought a few succulents online, dont often do that, but I've been growing them for years so know I can get these going.
But £36 , not a pot in sight ????
Not sure if I'm complaining or not, but I just wonder how much money I could make if I sold small off sets of my own.

 

My bare-root David Austin roses arrived from a Dutch nursery today Beautiful, healthy plants with good roots for €7 to €8 each. No chance of planting at the moment, though. It's way too wet. They'll be potted up in home-made JI3 to await better conditions....

 

That sounds very cheap for a Austin rose do they have to buy the breeding rights are something similar to propagate them ? I want Gabriel Oak and hopefully order soon but waiting to see what the new variety's are first . Which roses di you buy ?

4 different varieties and two had smaller rosettes of the same variety added.
So 6 plants in all.

 

Hmm, another question...where did u get them from? I've bought a few over the years from the RHS shows...last lot were from simply succulents and they've been really good.

 

Worth a go just for the fun of trying it I think, Pete. What were the offsets packaged in then, just a box and a plastic bag?

That's quite impressive Noisette, well done, I'd expect to at least pay double in pounds at my local GC! Cheapest ones are about £14-15 from what I remember... Must be the fact you're buying bareroot, I'm guessing.

Surreal succulents, as I say, not complaining as such, I think they are varieties that you are unlikely to find in a garden centre , but even so, bare root and slightly shriveled.
Now I know once rooted they will fill out quickly, but for the price, maybe well rooted in a tiny pot?? Perhaps.

They were in a box well wrapped in tissue paper.
Each with a label.
