I haven't worked in the garden for weeks because of inclement weather. Now we have snow it's a no-no!

I always walk around the Garden with Husband and our two Cats...Was quite taken back how cold it was...so rushed around and left the three of them..back in doors kettle on and light the log burner. It soon was too hot...:yay: and that was my day...well apart from reading PC cleaning cooking and music to boot...going to have quite a few cold days here aswell.

The cold and snow doesn't bother me @DianneW , but I really don't like working outside when it's raining or blowing a hooley. :)

Agree with the wet and windy...But when I was over..keen after landing in Bexhill on Sea the garden was a real challenge , the front garden was a garden in its own right..slope to ski for...and I can remember working in the Rain many a time...OTT oh yes, but we fell in love with the place and really did not get worried about the sloping until much later on when we saw the light...Cold I will work in, really was not in the right mood today...but when I do just double up on the joggers and socks..hat gloves warm coat..simple.

I know about gardening on a slope. Finding a flat garden here in the Highlands isn't easy unless it's on a new housing estate.

I don't mind the cold, I just add a few more layers but can't abide strong winds though..

Been dry down here in Kent the last few days, cold but only light frosts. Pruned an apple tree this morning and spent the afternoon clearing bramble from behind shrubs along a fence. I only moved into the house a few months ago so lots to tidy up in the garden.

Take our terrain then...driveway guessing 3 metres down from the bungalow. when you hit the property the lounge is 1st and that is still 2 metres above the ground..looked like a 1st floor but hey it was a bungalow...the back garden was just a light slope and enjoyed that I can tell you..When it rained heavily the place was like a river. We had two Wells one was just a metre from the property and went down 5 metres and had a cover like a manhole so you would never realise it was a well..we did not know when we bought it...Used the water for the garden with a pump...win win

Just to add on this morning we just happen to be slightly lower on 3 sides and the rainwater came from the end garden that was at least 1/2 metre higher the farmland one side was sloped but still higher than our terrain. The 'nice people' next door but not nice to any neighbours (spent 3 years rebuilding their 1930's Bungalow...talking roof 3 wallsides completely changing the interior raising their back garden so high they could peek into our hot tub...:yikes:wanting to put up a much higher fence on their land as the boundaries all belonged to our property.end.result would be our kitchen would be in the dark...the words calmly spoken..I'm sure it will be alright' several times...brought about a seizure of explosive words that not even 'Murphy' would have known.......
So rainwater came from many directions and eventually we gave up the soakaways and the water was directed into the mains at little extra cost but huge rewards. Handy when your local council puts in a new tarmac road over the unmade one , had forgot to put in drainways resulting in the downhill new properties 'a new local waterway'....Off out for a trip around the garden etc....:dancy:

I would for my defence point out that the 1st occasion an explosion happened was at our very 1st house and the new end neighbours came around and spoke with all of us end of garden owners of our own fences. He wanted to put up a new fence all the way along his side on garden to all of ours...we all agreed with the siting and no issue..our was just a wire fence with our Summerhouse in front and a Shed so that was fine...or was it...I came home from my part time work at Wandle Mills Beddington..(historical Village once.. but now treated with building abuse sadly)Went into the Garden to look at the progress on the new Fence. It was an inch from our summerhouse and shed....the concrete post were in place with a wooden fence attached...but not for long...my neighbours came out to the extra noise and really wanted to help but I was in a rage, said sorry but best leave me to it...The Fencing placed on the ground in a horizontale position with the owner now coming over to me...I said this is our land and this was not the plans you said you were doing...words similar..He said I will call the Police and I will contact my Solicitor....Do that and get your tradesman on course...The problem also was the fact that not all our gardens were in a straight line..He wanted his fence in a straight line...Tough that was never going to happen...So two rages in my 72 years...hey I am a lamb...you can see that I hope...:loll:
