My aspiration for the garden this year is to find room to plant all the Hardy Perennials, waiting in pots, in the borders in Spring upload_2021-1-4_20-54-43.png

Are you going to pot the echinacea on armandii ? I've had problems with slugs eating young plants the more mature plants fend them off .

I already have, Perki, as I find that the larger more mature plants tend to stand a better chance of flourishing in my light, fast draining, sandy soil.
To be honest, Slugs and Snails are not, thankfully, not a major problem and I find any specific attacks are easily cured by an evening patrol to catch the offenders munching:heehee:

I'm going to have the very slippery decking taken up and slabs put instead of it.
Last week I went up a ladder to check the shed roof after storm Bella, and as I was coming down it slipped from under me and I fell to the ground ! ... landed on my back on top of some pots full of bulbs and smashed them to bits, and a picket fence - that decking has to be changed !
I was laughing so much I couldn't get up :heehee: and apart from two bruises on my back I'm fine :yay:

We must be of the mental frame of mind, Michael, as that is exactly what I do when I either end on my rear or manage to break something:dunno::heehee:

I love this thread every year

I think my aspiration last year basically boiled down to "move house", which we managed despite Covid's best efforts :rolleyespink: We've got a fairly blank slate to work with now, so for this year the main aim is to try and get the overall framework of the garden in place - put in the shed and the greenhouse, build the vegetable beds, mark out the flower beds even if we don't fill them. I'd like a pond, and on a more practical note we need a proper path running from top to bottom (hopefully with water and electric running with it). So there's quite a lot to be getting on with!

Oh, where to start?! Trim some overhanging oak tree branches (subject to TPO) from two neighbours, build a shed, re-roof the greenhouse, relieve the last compacted bits of soil, top up soil levels, establish an adequate lawn, build a frame for the kids to clamber over, create a courtyard area and garden with water feature, establish a herb garden, establish a veg area, create some flowering borders... This was a thread for '21-'25 right?
