Hi my name's Ash and i'm from north wales. I am disabled and have limited movement. I like to learn things especially about plants, when they grow to when the don't grow and survive on stored food during the year. Do you know of any books preferably E books that has basic information about how plants grow and when the don't grow and things please? I don't know much about plants, roots and all that.

      Hi,

Cannot suggest any particular book, but so much for free online these days.

What we would sugest you have a look at are RHS and Eden Project learning centers, which still have a lots of free info without joining a course.

Study & learn / RHS Gardening

Are you looking or able to start growing your own , flowers, veg or fruit, indoors or out ?

If you are limited to indoors there are lots of plants you can grow on windowcills, even slow growers like cacti and succulents can be a very interesting area , needing little regular attention.
Even more shady north or east facing windows can support things like orchids etc.

            Welcome to the forum @alecras234

For ebooks I go to Project Gutenberg which is a large collection of works from the public domain, digitised by volunteers. I like this site as there is no advertising and it's free. A quick search in there I found:

Botany: The Science of Plant Life by Norman Taylor

Might be a bit stuffy but will definitely tell you all you need to know.

For a lighter read I find the 'Dummy' books are always good, although I've never read this one I suspect it will be easy to dip in and out of, available on Kindle for £10 ish:

Some do grow in the winter. Did you look at the two books I suggested above ?

                      Hi,

Possibly another way you can learn in a more practical way but from your desktop -

Each year this forum has some threads like Tomatos 2020 ,Fuchsias 2020,Chillies 2020 etc where members chart their progress from seed to fruit /flower and the problems along the way.

Think this would give you a feeling for what its like growing such plants and gain some better understanding of the hobby and the plants, like being a virtual gardener yourself.
