Hi @noisette47 yes, I use the Colgin liquid smoke for barbecues - some studies have shown it works as well as the expensive smoke disks I used to buy! There are some seeds that don't need it - mostly in the pea family - but I use it as a matter of course to be on the safe side. And the bottle of liquid smoke lasts a long time since you only need a few drops per set of seeds.

Getting more exotic every year @CanadianLori

@CarolineL ,what is liquid smoke? Only I've ordered a couple of protea types, seed, and the place I bought them suggests a method of smoking the seeds, but it sounds a bit of a rigmarole.

Edit, I've just googled it, never came across it before.

My order of 500 Double Snowdrops "in the green", and 200 Aconites in the "green" arrived this morning but although the invoice said "Double Snowdrops" the actual sealed plastic bags said "Single". :wallbanging:
I've rung the Company and explained the problem and they are going to send the 500 Double Snow Drops next week. I've bought from them over the years and never had a problem until now.......so I ordered another 500 Double Snow Drops and 200 Aconites, (I know:dunno:, I know:dunno::doh:) to add to the replaced order they're sending next week.
So, in the meanwhile, I've got to find space to plant the 500 Single Snow Drops and 200 Aconites before the others arrive.:dunno::heehee:

The Postie delivered a large bag today of another 1000 Double Snowdrops and another 200 Aconites today. 500 of the Double Snowdrops were a replacement by the Company for sending, in my first order, 500 Single Snowdrops when I ordered Double Snowdrops, I could do with some mild, dry weather now while I find somewhere to plant them, I might get the first but I'm not sure about the dry weather.

Have rediscovered Medwyn Williams' site. Never realised he lived at Llanfair PG which is 2 miles from where I lived for 21 years of my life. Have been in England for last 58 of my life and never needed to grow SHOW plants! Nevertheless have decided to grow exhibition onions!! Germinating well and using two composts, a standard peatfree, and a peat/silver sand mixture! Thought hard about using peat again but my seed sowing last year was pathetic! Also discovered a Welsh Tomato - Ddraig Goch (red dragon) As a hater of fresh tomatoes but expected to produce masses for others, that'll be one and another he recommends for outdoors (can't remember name and comfortable!) Got my Jab this PM So that importantfor today I suppose?

I have just taken the plunge and ordered 100 aconites. I have tried aconites before and they hadn't taken. A few spots around the garden have opened up so I thought I would have a go at mass planting. Maybe some of them might take.

No, just through their website Premier Seeds Direct – Grow The Best

I placed my order on Tuesday and the parcel came today through the letterbox. A fiver well spent :)

I’ve used premiere seeds last year and most of my seeds are from them this year. Really good value and great service. I have had really good results so far too.
