Wow, here it is the exact opposite. Bone- and bloodmeal is really hard to find. I think just the mental image of distributing bones and blood in their garden sanctuary repulses a lot of people (not me though).

That or the blood is mainly used to make blood sausages

      All interesting info. thanks everybody

@ricky101 Im trying to make things easier due to declining health. I have a long term muscle issue that affects my amount of moving around on a lot of days. I know Ive been quite immobile over winter so stiff but I went out in the garden for the 1st time on The sunny day we had last week to tidy up some leaves and to try and pull some of the clumps of grass out of the border. After about 15mins I was in pain and seeing spots before my eyes and thought I was going to pass out. This did not bode well for the season ahead. I loathe having somebody else in my garden touching my plants but I think I will need a mowing service at the very least this year. My garden is small but If I cant even manage 15mins at a time Ive got a problem.

Think most of us oldies will be the same feeling very sore after the first few outings of the new year, the old saying, a little and often is the way to go ..??

Possibly doing some gentle exercise movements daily might ease your condtion enough to allow you to do some gardening, though worth getting advice from your gp or physio first.

Also consider using tools more so you do not have to bend down so much or if you do use one of those kneelers with side handles.

Lawns are always a burden, so a good gardener to do the cutting and edging might be a wise move, possibly getting them to do some of the border work or hedges if you get on with them.

A more modern alternative would be a battery run robot mower, only seen them on the tv but something to consider ??

Some folk will suggest doing away with the grass and covering it with attractive gravel with some nice flags or planting spots to break things up, which can look very good.

Just a case of whats best for you.. ? might not be exacly what you want, but a little compromise ( frustrating we know) might be well worth it.:)
