Haha! Less of the 'toxico', hein?

 

Some plants turned up today and some shortbread arrived with them .


3x Phlox Dusterlohe or Nicky
3x Anemone ruffled swan
2X Echinops Taplow Blue
1x Corydalis Porcelain blue

The five pots which has perlite in are my Tropaeolum Speciosum roots which also arrived today , I am not very good with root cutting so .

I potted on the Phlox and Anemone this afternoon .

 

I've bought 3 Corydalis 'Purple Leaf' this afternoon but it's really all @Perki's fault for purchasing a corydalis and making me feel jealous, so I take no personal responsibility for ordering them!

A bare root rose arrived today Eustacia Vye , I've potted it up in a 15 L pot for this year or part of this year until it goes in the garden. Looks a bit sad in that pot but it will grow

 

Went to the big Morrisons for shopping and these had just arrived...thought they were so pretty and such a good price £1.50 each, that I thought Id get all 6 of them. oh and a clematis. i will put them in the cold frame first because I didnt know if they had been grown outdoors or not?

 

They are nice primulas @Snorky85 , I were wondering today whether supermarkets will have little clematis plants in soon , what variety did you get ?

 

Can't go wrong for £2 really. Morrisons plants have always been decent in my experience-great prices.

 

My haul from the GC today , think I need reigning in spend spend spend plant plant plant or todays case pot , Got a pot for a rose which hopefully will turn up soon its quite a size 40odd cm tall by 50cm thought it were a decent price for the size , think I'll curse the day when I want to remove the rose from it because of the shape. Also got a Clematis Julia.C and some bags of topsoil for topdressing the lawn .

I've potted the Choisya and Buddleja on temporarily and will plant them out at a later point. I misread the pot sizes when ordering the Ribes and Deutzia, thinking it read 3.5 ltr, it was 3.5 inches. I've potted those on once and will put them in buckets too - to grow on.

 

Yep! Why not plant into a standard plastic pot that fits snugly into the decorative one? It would be a terrible shame to have to break it, eventually. A saucer under the clay pot would catch the drips

 

My 3 Corydalis flexuosa 'Purple Leaf' arrived yesterday morning from Dorset Perennials, so I let them settle yesterday evening as they still seemed a little moist and gave them a good watering this morning. They look very healthy and will clearly be coming into flower soon as they already have some buds turning bluish. This was one of the first plants I ever bought from a local garden centre almost ten years ago when my interest in horticulture began so it brought back some nostalgic feelings having it again, I'd forgotten how much I like the green/purple foliage, especially soon when it'll contrast with the vivid blue flowers.

Plants Galore emailed me yesterday to ask if I wanted to exchange one of the hebes I've ordered as they won't have 'Great Orme' in for another four weeks. But I have no idea if the many cultivars they suggested as alternatives are even attractive to butterflies (which is what I want them for!) so I just said the delay would be fine. Anyway, I appreciated them letting me know, shows professionalism.

I just wonder why they continue to make plant pots that shape, as you say, its a hammer job if you ever want to take the plant out.
And the small base means they blow over most of the time.
