Good idea! Thanks. Not sure that grass will look right here, but you've reminded me of something else that I have seen ... and grass would look right for my other pond, where I got the levels slightly wrong and the liner shows at one end (and will rot quicker in full sun ...)

I have seen, but had completely forgotten about, "Stone liner". Putting that in place before the rocks would provide a nice backdrop, and perhaps cushion the actual liner behind a bit.

A fascinating and mammoth project there Kristen. I look forward to seeing the end result ... as I am sure you are tool! Will you be open to the public? I love Azaleas and Rhodos but sadly they are not happy here, but I have other interesting specimens.

I don't fancy that ... however there is a "hidden gardens" club that visits not-open-to-public gardens; I've not been, but I assume they are "of a type" that likes to crow about such things ... thus I figure I could charge them £50 a head, and give them a slap-up meal, and then I only need 20 or so on each visit to raise a £grand a time, and I could easily do that 3 or 4 times a year.

When I look at how much work Mr and Mrs Shiney go to each year to open their garden for their charity :blue thumb: :blue thumb: :blue thumb: I selfishly think that fleecing a bunch of snobbish people would make the fund raising a lot easier :dbgrtmb: ... and I like to talk a lot (you've noticed? :heehee:) so they'd be well entertained on the tour.

It's coming on a treat Kristen despite the occasional hiccup. What amazes me with the bigger projects of yours is how this all comes together in your mind. Do you actually manage to sleep at night?

Just dropped by with a few updates. Have had massively increased workload at work this past year, just as well we weren't able to entertain or go anywhere!

                Some piccies of some projects

                The Long Walk in January

Put some metal edging around the front lawn
                [IMG]

so that white van man doesn't wreck the edges ... grass in low spots had to be lifted to become level with the edging - hadn't anticipated that!

Decided we wanted some Finials, or something like that, to keep Van Man off the corners. Tried a mock-up with something we were about to use elsewhere

                Solution delivered:

Within a week White Van Man had tried to push it over and left a chunk of his tire on it [sigh]

                    Some odds and sods

I haven't got an Auricula Theatre ... but rather a table dragged up outside the kitchen window :)

I planted a bowel of every Crocus variety Parkers sell to see which ones we liked ... we only liked a couple, so the rest are now going to become "Theatre objects"

Got carried away buying some plants ...

Also got carried away and bought a Gator. I *so* wish I had done that years ago, we have made so much use of it since we had it. Pushing a barrow up the garden umpteen times to mulch a flower bed which used to take hours is now so much quicker, and less tiring!

Plants going from the Cannabis Lights to the greenhouse

                    "Hauling Stuff"

Some Brugs on the terrace last Summer

Thujas this Spring. Bought in 9cm pots last Spring :) I've bought another batch of 9cm pots this year as they have done so well. 2-quid a plant instead of ten ...

Biochar. Not tried this before, but I am reliably informed (we'll see :) ) that it will dramatically improve my clay. Hungarian Rye Grass as a winter green-manure does an amazing job too ... except when I sow it in the Autumn its at just the time when the mice are looking for an easy meal ...

Have you tried Phacelia as a green manure? The hardest part about growing it is hardening your heart sufficiently to dig it in before it flowers :)
