    I'm giving that one a go too, it's biennial but I'm hoping it'll self-seed well! :blue thumb: Eryngium is an interesting genus, as well as the popular blue and silver types there is also green and purple, only realised that recently. :)

      Over the last few days we've done a ton of weeding (almost literally) but still don't seem to have any room left to plant things. :scratch: Ton part II starting today :phew:.

      Our tomatoes need planting in their final pots but there's not yet room in the greenhouse to do that. We need to work out what will be safe to come out of hiding.

      The first batch of a few hundred beans have been hardened off and waiting on the tables in the pergola for people to pick up their orders. I normally plant out my first batch off 100 beans this coming Bank holiday but I've miscalculated and accepted more orders than I had expected so only have a couple of dozen for myself. The second batch are in the greenhouse and only 2"-3" high at the moment. They shall come out of the propagator today and batch three shall go in and, hopefully, they will pop up by Wednesday. Batch two should be enough :fingers crossed: for my second planting and for those who asked for 'succession' plants and to replace failures that people may get (slugs/pigeons/rabbits).

      I'm pretty sure that this Saturday we may get people turn up for our non-existent Open Garden :rolleyespink:. As it was always on the end of May Bank Holiday people have been coming to it for years(decades probably) and just expect us to be open! This will be the second year not open (Covid closure :sad:).

          As we are supposed to get very windy again this afternoon, have already been out and potted on two Hibiscus, the Albo and the Pagoda Red. Sadly I discovered (by the leaves changing shape) the Ice Cream one is actually a Hibiscus trionum like I had discovered last month I had elsewhere ... so it has gone down to the lower garden as it's sibling had. Also repotted a Hamelia patens and a Red Lagerstromia with black leaves.

          Disappointing getting this

            It's so annoying when the plants turn out to be different to what you expect @Victoria but it's still very pretty.

            Had a bit of sunshine this morning and a few downpours. Managed to get out and was planting a few bits up on my lotty.

            I've come back to the garden and decided to do what I've been wanting to do for a while-a pond in a pot. Gardeners' World had it on again last week so it's reminded me to do it. I dug a hole and put in a big plastic pot, bricks and stones and a basket with lobelia and creeping jenny in. and I took a basket with a water lily from my "nature" pond (there were two in there already). I've planted some Iris around it. It's not quite finished yet-want to do some more planting but pleased I've done it. If it turns out naff I can always dig it up.

            It's started really chucking it down now so I'm inside.

              Was busy inside all morning and now I'm sitting on 74f with full sun, watching the little irrigation feed all the plants. And cooking Chile con carne in the sun oven. :)

                  Well, we moved enough pots out of the greenhouse, into the shelter of the pergola at the moment, and potted on the toms into their final pots. Put in the canes for them and tied the canes to the wire supports I have in the roof.

                  Mrs Shiney planted some of the large pots of annuals that will go out of the greenhouse and on the patio from next week (was only 3C out there this morning :rolleyespink:)

                  I put in more of the rebar hoops for supporting some of our big plants (peony bushes, hydrangea Annabelle etc.) as the ground is now wet enough for me to be able to push them in.

                  I then spent a couple of hours down the veg patch removing the finished brassicas, weeding that area and started on putting up the pigeon scarers :fingers crossed:. I'll continue today.

                  I also cleared two x 50L buckets of willow catkins and leaves from the patio after the strong winds. Sweeping is not good for my back but the staff had the day off. Actually, they've had the last 50 years off! :roflol:

                    Besides it not being what I expected in colour it is a straggly plant and is an annual and I only "do" perennials, The picture above was on the hermetically sealed pack and writing in Russian? (came from Ukraine). I wrote the Seller yesterday but don't expect to get a response.

                            Yes we are a bit overlooked at that side, no one on the otherside. were gradually putting things in to make it more private. theres a flat up there but the old folks who live in it are so lovely they dont bother me at all-but the window I've blocked with the tree is a bedroom window to a bloke I'm

                                Got back from work and did an hour solid weeding... I'm hoping to get on top of it this year but the plot hasn't been looked after for a decade so years of weeding ahead of me I think! Need to get a mulch
