I was in a garden centre recently and saw a Ferocactus latispinus. I used to have one several years ago but it died, so when I saw this one I had to buy it. It has a flattened central spine.

How can you lose interest in cacti @Victoria, they are so fascinating, and are perfect adaptations of nature to a harsh environment. The flowers are exquisite.
I've had more cuts and bloodshed from roses than I've ever had from my cacti

I like succulents too, I've got many. Some, especially Euphorbias, are very spiny.
Nice to see your Crassula ovata flowering. I've never had mine to do that

That's gorgeous, always interesting to see different bonsai although I don't have any! Have you got a thread dedicated to your collection here, @BigC? :) Would love to see it if you do!

I "sort of accidentally" ordered another load of pollinator-friendly plants from Claire Austin last week and they arrived this morning. :heehee: Agastache 'Blackadder', Cephalaria gigantea, Echinacea 'White Swan', Eryngiums 'Big Blue' and yuccifolium, Knautia 'Melton Pastels', Lysimachia ephemerum and Veronicastrum 'Album'. I'm quite impressed with Claire Austin, although both plants and delivery are a tad pricy their 9cm pot plants are always very advanced for the size, but I have never had a pot-bound example, they seem very good at sending them out at exactly the right time! That's it now for Summer, I'm placing myself under a ban until Autumn as I already have three of my roses to dig out and transplant to my neighbour's garden before I can start work on my new 'Bee Bed' and two hebes arriving in August for my butterfly border! :wallbanging::biggrin:

Thats it for summer you say @Nikolaos :heehee:.
Some nice plants you've got there, the agastache black adder are great the blue just in the agastache family in my opinion but it's not the most reliable especially if you are on clay, I've started switching mine to blue fortune which seem to be more reliable. Can't go wrong with any of the veronicasyrum brilliant plants, erygium big blue is nice I may be adding it to my own garden soon.

                          Well, it might be...

@Perki I grew 'Blackadder' years ago, I think it was in a 70/30% MPC/grit mix and it still only lasted a couple of years, could have even just been one. Might give 'Blue Fortune' a go next year if it's longer lasting! Re-purchased it because I can't remember how well it did with butterflies.

It's supposed to flower from June to August, still not really long compared to some plants but still a touch longer than most members of its genus! Verdun grew it and it sounds like he had it flowering for even a bit longer in Cornwall. I've got 5 eryngiums now, trust me to get rid of my roses and end up with something almost as painful!

I have a few, being a novice I'm learning and taking lessons. I want to do this thing properly even though I may never own a true showstopper.

Got given a load of these for free (my favourite price), around two hundred 300 x 600mm slates and loads of 300 x 300mm half slates, Eternit Thrutone 600X300 Slate

                                IMG_20210705_151638603.jpg

I plan to line my raised beds a the plot with them, to both keep the decking boards (also got those free) dry and last longer, and create a 300mm high vertical weed barrier to keep the couch grass, etc. out. Will have enough left to line the beds in 2 polytunnels.
