Planted 5 Succisa pratensis (Devil's Bit Scabious) plugs straight into my new border, will hopefully get a few flowers since they carry on flowering right up to October, they're important late Summer/Autumn nectar plants for quite a few butterfly species! :)

Two hours pressure washing, two hours mowing, one hour trimming lawn and path edges, 15 minutes harvesting, 30 minutes winding up bean runners, half hour tidying up.

Mrs Shiney did two hours of weeding, an hour of cutting back, half hour deadheading and an hour watering. :)

Lewis did two hours of heavy digging - weeds and then five hours of hedgecuttong. He's coming back in another two weeks to do at least another 10 hours of hedge cutting :phew:

I imagine I read all that activity in hot weather. :hate-shocked:

@shiney, you've tired me out just reading your post!

This morning whilst still in my jammies, I moved all of my skinny allium to a little corner garden to form a cluster. Maybe they'll look a little more substantial this way. Then I moved my columbine from the little front garden, to a spot in the back yard and replaced it with the hardy hibiscus/Rose of Sharon that I kept waffling about where to plant.

Started taking out the polycarbonate panels from the greenhouse to add clear plastic to create "sorta" double glazing for this winter. I'm washing them before applying the plastic and good thing too. They need it! I'll probably ln,y get 4 panels done per session since they take so long to dry.

There's lots of weeding to do but I have this feeling they won't run away and I can get to it on Sunday. :)

I get double time on hot days - and I claim tax relief on it. :)

Oh! I forgot! I don't pay tax.

Correct - but the temperature was bearable in the morning and didn't top 77F in the afternoon. I organised my afternoon mowing in the shade. :ideaIPB:

We have guests at the weekend so need to make it look as though the garden is always looking like that :heehee:. Now I have plenty of time for cooking.

Snap @shiney , I have company coming by tomorrow too! Not for a meal but I will be serving things like quesadillas, cheese straws, and other nibblies. :)

Glad I'm done out there now, it is 89f and working in the sun was getting a bit toasty!

Managed to cut the lawn and was a bit surprised when the wheel rolled off up the garden! Took ages to find the nut too, grr.
Also started chiselling out some concrete ready for a new area next to the patio...

Having looked out the window; first job stand up pots that have been blown over, second tie up plants that got knocked down in the wind.

A beautiful sunny morning after yesterday's gloom so first cut flowers for the house and then did a bit of weeding and cutting back. My OH strimmed the weeds back on the top of the bank outside our wire fence to make a path for weeding near the new beech hedge. All looking good.

I'd completely forgotten about my onions! Had a very quick shuffle on here and can't see any posts about people harvesting them to dry off. Should it be done sometime soon please?

Phew- the hedge is done. Putting it mathematically, it grows two binfuls a year and takes two bin days i.e. 4 weeks to finish. I asked my neighbour that next time they see me walking towards the hedge with a box of BloodFishandBone in hand they will shout and stop me.

There is an amazing amount of biodiversity growing through in the far corner, wild rose, brambles and assorted bird sown shrubs. I do have thornproof gloves but keep forgetting to wear them when tackling the pricklies. Well, the pair has lasted me two years and are nearly immaculate (unlike my arms) so that's a saving methinks. :th scifD36:

The geraniums need a good chop but it's so wrong to cut them down when there are still some flowers. Unfortunately it produces flowers all the way through to frosts so I always miss the fabled "second flush of growth and flowers". I think I will be firm this year. Maybe.

Dahlias are flowering and life is good :)

Mud wrestling. Yesterday afternoon was mentioning to a guest that the daisies had overrun/crowded out too many nice plants so I'd be digging some of them out this week. She said if I was willing to hand them to her she would be thrilled. I might see these people again today so before my beloved Corrie came on, and while I was still in my jammies, I armed myself with a shovel and grim determination to dig a bunch out. It was well worth the effort because I found a few buckthorn saplings hiding in there and I pulled them out too.

And @ricky101 's advice to deadhead my sweet peas kept me occupied for a little while this afternoon. Thank you!

I also replaced the rechargeable batteries in the rain barrel pumps. I think the old ones hadn't fully drained before I tried to use them again and these solar things are picky. Just trying to find batteries that hadn't been precharged took a bit of time but they're here. :)
