RHS and a number of specialist nurseries have pollinating groups on their websites. I use a book from the RHS Fruit by Harry Baker.
For what it's worth I have Doyenne de Comice and Concorde both flowering frantically at the moment; just have to hope there are few insects around.

 

I’ve been guided by the Ashridge chart, Nigel….but it can’t do anything about the weather!!

The B&Q Concorde has been in the front of the house, where it has come on great with a swathe of leaves and no blossom sadly - could be the young age of it, or more likely me giving it too much seaweed, but maybe no. The Beth I moved into the greenhouse and it’s catching up on the Chretiens, who are at a standstill with the cold snap. The last chance saloon Conference nearby the Chretiens is a dozy as ever, and will be late to the party, as always. I’ll know in two weeks anyway. Could always tour the garden centres with a load of cotton buds for pollen if needs be…

 

Got these three Dipladenas today from Aldi (well, a friend got them for me as he was passing three of them). They were today's Special for 4,99 Euros and they go quickly. He got a red, pink and white and said they were the only three left. Lots of buds on all of them.

Oh you got them ! What healthy looking plants they are too, that's brilliant.
They are certainly beautiful plants and I can see why they get sold so quickly.

 

I was delighted John was coming over and said he'd look for them. Now the problem is where to put them.

I've never grown these before but I liked the bright colour of this one ... Gerbera ...

 

Wow !! They're fabulous Michael. Particularly love the Gerbera the colour is very eye-catching indeed.

 

I have given up on Orchids but love the Gerbera, which I have had in the past.

 

Bought another Ceanothus yesterday a concha this time and potted it up with strulch at the base and also bought a fuchsia

I've already sown the snapdragon. Very excited for the Tromboncino!

 

My long lost plants arrived today, the Protea from Madeira took 11 days in the post although I had ordered it a week previously. The Adenium and Aptenia took 3 weeks and 3 days from Spain and look disasterous. There was a free no-name plant (the healthiest looking specimen) and a live snail!!! I have sent a message and photo to the seller.

I asked T'other Half to give me something to put them in as I unwrapped and was presented with this filthy tray which he thought was fine ... beggars can't be choosers.

 

Oh dear Vicky, that's not looking too good . By what I can see two look like gonnas but the other two probably only need some TLC.

Definitely not good enough though, it will be interesting to hear what the seller has to say about such poor customer service.

 

How disappointing @Victoria, I hope they recover. It's good that you sent a message to the seller. It would be interesting to know what they say.
