What's Looking Good In May 2022

Delosperma and Lampranthus both belong to the family Aizoaceae but to a different genus within that family

 

These were taken yesterday evening.

The Jacaranda by the lane starting to bloom.


The Oleander at the bottom of the garden opening blooms but it has some yellow leaves whereas the one by the house nor the one in the pot does. Can't figure it out ... overwatering/underwatering/diseases, no!

 

Just checking my label collection.



It might be this but I'm not 100% sure.

I had actually written Drosanthemum first but changed my mind. I get quite confused this these beauties.

 

Lori you're not alone in regards to this months Photo Comp. I have 'like' a few but I haven't the foggiest which ones were tender plants that surprisingly made it through the winter....some aren't named so can't be looked up either.
There are a few there l know that are as tough as old boots and reappear every year.

 

Lots of green here as we "hot up" heading for Summer.

It's great when you discover something that you thought was a gonna....I took a teeny bit from a Dahlia that I've had in our garden for about 5 years now ( it came from a tuber from one in my parents garden) and buried it in a border last Autumn. Pleased to say all our Dahlias left in the borders have survived again..phew ,the only disappointment was that there was no sign of the teeny bit of tuber.....but today I found it!!

This echinops was by far the most bee visited plant last year and it's probably doubled in size this year so hopefully another bumper bee year, unfortunately it looks like it's outgrown its spot so I think I'll have to dig it up later this year, already arranged to give a neighbour a big clump.

 

Thank you Michael it's so tiny that tonight I've covered it with a cut off plastic bottle as the slugs love very young Dahlias, once they get a bit bigger they leave them alone.

 

Buttercups on a bank of a ditch in the woods, a few still remain that the Romans dug out, but can't see it much at the moment. It's not as deep as it used to be, the wood isn't managed very well.
