Mountfield are not what they were.

in the trade many use the Ego range of battery mowers. I use a Viking battery mower and the Stihl ones I believe are vikings as Stihl owns that brand.

I had a Bosch LI model before the Viking and that was well abused but the Viking cuts better to be honest but the price is more once you add the mower, battery and charger.

Hayter also now have some battery mowers but I don’t know what they are like as well as Honda.

Agree with what @Fat Controller has said, do feel the weight of the battery operated one first as they will be much heavier to use and move around than a typical corded one.

We bought a new Bosch Rotok 34R corded last month and despite some negative feedback on some sites, find it does give a good cut in the dry or wet and its eas to pick up and carry with one hand.
Partly purchased on the recommendation of a neighbour who has the same model, currently around £100.

You haven't mentioned why you want a battery one over corded , though know some folk hate moving a cable around, have not used a battery one, though still think the corded tick more boxes for us.

Why. They both have electric motors of a similar size and the batteries weigh no more than a bag of sugar.
I have a corded mower and a cordless mower (petrol) and the cordless is so much easier to operate. No shifting cables around, no danger of running over it (or in my case - tripping over it) and again in my case, no need to run out a long extension lead.
        Cordless wins hands down.

          Hello all

My reasoning for going Cordless is that it will limit the instances where I snag Plants which I have done numerous Times with the Corded Mower.

Also, I have a Small Weeping Cherry in the middle of the Front Lawn and Mowing that Lawn with a Corded Mower is a Right Royal Pain in the ****.

I seem to be going back to the Bosch Rotak 32 or 34 Li, although, I am unable to find anywhere that has them in Stock at the moment.

          Thanks

          Kevin

I agree with that, I have a Mountfield petrol rotary which replaced an 18 year old Hayter. The build quality of the Mountfield is much worse and there are several features I dislike, simple things like how fiddly it is to remove and replace the grass collection box. I did go and look at it before buying but I bought on price rather than using my head. My next will be a battery when the Mountfield dies. There is a confusingly large choice and reviews are not useful as the manufacturers change the model range so quickly.

                Hello all

                I hope you are well.

I finally managed to get to a Local Garden Centre that has a dedicated Lawnmower Department.

In the end I decided to purchase a Mountfield EL 340 Li 48v.

I know some mentioned that Mountfield are not what they used to be but I had to balance things such as any needed repairs etc.

Since the Garden Centre does all Repairs etc. on site that will make things much easier for me.

I have used it a few times so far just to take the top off the new Lawns and it is much easier to use than the Flymo.

i have also removed the Rear Roller as Stripes do not look right given the shape of my Lawns.

                Thanks

                Kevin

                  Hi Kevin,

Choosing a lawnmower is never easy as there are so many available. You've given it some thought and come up with a practical answer that suits you. :)

Seems like you made a good choice there. The problem I found when buying a cordless lawnmower was availability. With most being made in China the supply chain has dried up with the covid shutdowns.
My cordless Bosch hedge trimmer gave up the ghost yesterday ( Bosch used to be the top make! ) Searching Screwfix, B and Q, Argos etc very few were available. I had to opt for an unknown branded one on Ebay.
