    You're welcome LawnAndOrder. :)

I hadn't realised you were referring to my avatar. :doh:It's a Gyrfalcon owned by a falconer that put's on a bird of prey display at Dunrobin Castle.

I use a combination of pellets and night-hunting. It's a shame that thrushes control them but blackbirds don't....we've got lots of the latter. Nothing, but nothing eats those horrible, great, orange, frilly slugs, though.
Where did you desert from LAO?

Shot gun pellets would do the trick, might have some collateral plant damage though

          Hmmm....let's see...Elancourt, France Miniature?
But no....and very nice too! My dream was more along the lines of Agay, but I was overruled:)
Now, to the serious stuff...this Poa annua! How are you going about tackling that?

The only way to deal with snails:

            1. Catch the little sods (unless they are too quick for you)

            2. Put them in some kind of container from which they cannot escape (this is the penitentiary stage)

            3. Starve them for ten days (purgatory stage)

            4. Feed them on fresh coriander for five days (their heavenly stage ... mais ils ne perdent rien pour attendre!)

            5. Soak in salty water for two to three hours (the spicy stage)

            6. Put them in the fridge for an hour to put in a torpor (he humanitarian stage)

            7. Plunge in boiling water for 30 minutes (stage depends of the cook’s nature)

            8. Rescue from boiling water and cool

            9. Stuff (over their dead bodies) cavities with garlic butter with chopped parsley (the more garlic, the better – also, the better the butter, the better)

            10. Place on plates such as these and eat (this is our heavenly stage)

Thank you for asking. Coping with difficulty; as you can see from the background of the snail plates, things are improving but there are still plenty of seed-heads; the bar was set too high for me when my son studied for four years while overlooking this quadrant (which is reputed — at least, that is what they say (but I wouldn’t be surprised — to be the most beautiful lawn in the world) – and, yes, it is immaculate, better than centre court, neither weed, nor brown spot in sight, every blade the same height, the same colour, (what I really can't understand is that every blade sits up vertically, and are all parallel to each other - none of that spaghetti imbroglio you see on all other lawns - you just can’t compete with that:

Bof! I don't aspire to perfection, but having taken three years to kill off the couch grass that constituted a 'lawn' here, the ground was promptly invaded by Poa. So the next challenge is to get rid of that without killing the desirable ray-grass anglais
You manage to make snails sound not only edible but actually tasty :roflol: Apart from the garlic butter, I can take them or leave them. I wonder if lashings of GB would work on the orange, frilly slugs?

Do other members have any success with the new fangled ferric phosphate pellets. Having always maintained control with the 'proper' pellets-( no hedghogs around here as there are badgers!!)
I now find that slugs and snails prefer the flavour of french beans etc. Previously adopting the technique of pre-emptive strike; pellets a day or two before planting out, I now find that this does not work. Despite dosing as instructions, plants are being destroyed. Also notice that the pellets disappear, in 24 hours, although this may be due to magpies in excess. Perhaps a different base to the pasta used might help. Any thoughts?

The new formula pellets work to a certain extent here. We don't have hedgehogs, either, luckily. Do have lots of magpies but they don't go for the pellets as far as I can tell. If pellets are no longer working, that only leaves two options.....spray with a garlic concoction or brace yourself for a couple of midnight hunts

The new ferric phosphate pellets don't work here. I have a couple of old metaldehyde packs which I'm rationing on the really precious plants and carefully covering to avoid birds getting at them.

Every year i order Neem Oil from Amazon,..this year i dont have any sign of Slugs or Snails on any plants,..i always had some of my Lupins/Delphiniums part eaten,..it takes quite a spell before one sees a complete absence of critters who eat the foliage,..so spray often in dry weather of the measures below.

                  1 tablespoon of Neem Oil
1 tablespoon of Liquid Soap,..(washing up liquid)

In a sprayer of 1 Litre of water.

Neem Oil is a natural Oil and will not harm Bee's,.. Lacewings,..Butterflies,.. its not harmful to Pets or humans either,..it only harms insects or the like that eat the foliage.

No immediate results but a gradual result will be noticed,..like slug slime staggered as if the critters were drunk,..before dying  :hapydancsmil:
