I hope you train them in the right direction over the wires or strings. :blue thumb: :)

I've gone over to picking French and runners on alternate days as the bending is getting too much in one day. I last looked at the courgettes two days ago and they didn't need picking. This afternoon I picked one 4lb one, a 3lb one and two 2lb ones! I need to check those every day now. It's back up to 26C and very hot in the sun - but quite nice in the shade.

What's the biggest challenge? Perhaps you could start a new thread in Garden Projects so that members could chip in with ideas and experiences? It's always great to daydream on someone else's wallet garden :)

My corner neighbours whose garden I can just see from the corridor window (need to find those binoculars!) have transformed their space over the couple of years they have been here with artificial grass and large raised beds. All colour schemed and stylish. :th scifD36: Not just quite to my taste but each to their own...

Now their space is actually starting to mature into something quite interesting with the planters spilling the lush (colour schemed) plants. And I realised what they are doing, they are age-proofing their garden. Not at all a bad idea.

More weeding, watering and trimming. I also washed with bleach and scrubbed three rain water butts now empty. Currently got about 600 L (approx 150 gal) left in tank and butt.

Nice to hear about your neighbours garden @Selleri

I'm not going to make any structural changes, just a bit of rearranging really, there are plants that get too big and some that give a poor show so I want to get rid of them so that it is more manageable for me.

Slowly sorting out the back garden, by weeding and trying to pull up the ivy that has got out of hand and a lot of brambles. I've cleared some of the brambles but have to wait for the garden blackberries to finish so that i can get round the other side. Can't do any digging until we've had a lot of rain and that will probably be next month.

Strung onions up in the shed, about half the normal volume, so I'll be buying onions by January 2023.
Rinsed and repositioned two water butts and then discovered the other one had a big dent in the base with a crack and another crack ion the bottom edge; I must have done it yesterday, but it does look as if somebody hit it with al large hammer.
Tidied up an Eryngium agavifolium that had been mugged overnight: probably by a badger trying to reach the carrots in the veg plot; E agavifolium is as it's name indicates equipped with stiff spiky leaves and I think it must have been a score draw as I still have a few carrots left.

A bit more weeding this morning but around midday it now gets too hot and shadeless in our garden.

                  Also continued harvesting seeds.

Apart from this there really isn't much to do at this time of year.

Spent the day on my skateboard [IMG] deadheading the low growing perennials that usually get ignored dead-heading wise. I can do the roses once a week but otherwise deadheading is not something I enjoy.

Anyways, the skateboard is indispensable for any activities close to the ground, I just plop my rear onto it and shuffle along as I go. Kneeling? Kneeling pads? No thanks.

Replaced the apparently leaking front pondlet bowl with a bucket cut to size, planting Aloe Aristata all around to hide the edge. Looks very pretentious for now, but compared with nothing-on-nothing, it's an improvement.

Found the rustic jar and harvested Echinops and Lavender for dry flowers.

I've just finished off the remaining watering that was left from last night. Deadheading has been done.
I will collect some more seedheads that I've just spied.:blue thumb:

I have some drying out in the greenhouse that I will clean and put into little envelopes to store. That's a job that can be done this morning too before the greenhouse area gets unbearably hot later on.

I will also removed some new perennials that I sowed from seed and, for this summer only, decided to use in my pot/ basket displays. They will be potted up in fresh compost and either overwintered this year or planted out into the borders in September.

Cleaned and refilled the various water containers for the visiting wildlife.

I can cope with working outside in the garden until around midday then it's chilling under one of the parasols with my book and a long cool drink until about 8pm....then it's a quick deadheading check again and any required watering.

It's a beautiful summers day out there just waiting to be enjoyed.

The bonus of all this fab weather is that as our whole days are spent outside the housework is very minimal!!!:hapydancsmil:

Enjoy your gardens today everyone. :hapflowers2::hotsun:
