And the scales fell off from my eyes!

My Dad (now 84) is a geologist so any trip in my childhood was halted every time there was a cliff cut for the road to pass to allow Dad to give a little seremony lecture on the various layers of the exposed bed rock.

I will not go back to verify his facts but at least I now identify stone types to my daughter with confidence "What a wonderful piece of gneiss you have in there dear, did you know..."
