Last year, I bought a plum tree with missing label from my local gardening centre, and now I am trying to figure out the variety. Did any of your plum trees start flowering this week (17 - 23 Mar)? Thx

Where do you live? The south of France or the Outer Hebrides? :)

West London But it is quite early in the season, indeed. I've read somewhere that Victoria plum can be quite early to bloom but could it be some other even earlier variety?

I’d pay a visit to Kew gardens and have a look around there.

Our victoria plum tree doesn't even have buds yet, so I wouldnt rely on the flowering time to give you an id. It would be far easier to wait for fruit as they are more distinctive and Victoria (which is partially self fertile) looks different to the common same flowering group plums.

Oh, that's a great idea, I don't live far, so, might do that, actually.

That makes sense, I'll need to wait and see, I guess it's the only way to find out for sure.
