Yes @Ladybird4, those fat grey/green aphids are horrible, aren’t they. I’ve already got some lupins in a pot, and some years those awful things arrive en masse - the birds don’t seem to bother with them, so I squish them (yuk).

Evening everybody, running a bit late today. It's been a wonderfully sunny and warm day so lots to do, including a 7 stop drive around, surgery, beautician's, DIY shop. charity shop x 2, another DIY store, and finally S/M where all I needed was a packet of those 3 tiny vials of super glue. A very kind (but heavily tattooed) gentleman allowed me to precede him at the checkout queue.
Whew, I really needed some lunch by the time I got back.

Then after lunch OH and I decided to try to erect the new triangular Shade Sail over my Hanging Chair. We (he!) managed to tie some tree guards/rope around the top (10ft up)on two concrete fences posts opposite but the third fixing point on the house wall was completely the wrong angle. We had a think and then decided to give up for the day as it was already 4.30 ish.
Will have to try again tomorrow!

Thank you @Ladybird4 for the suggestion. I was hoping to try and resolve the issue without talking to the supplier. I'd even looked to see whether I had replacement bolts or nuts in my selection - the reply being "No".A quiet chat seems to be inevitable!!
        See you all tomorrow.

Hello there everyone. It looks like its going to be a gorgeous day again. As soon as I am back from my Bestie's I will be hoping for a stint in the garden. @lizzie27 that was so kind of the gentleman letting you go ahead of him in the queue. I do similar if I see someone behind me with just a few things in their basket when I've a trolley load. Oh no! I've just heard on the TV that rain is due later! Rats!

            Good morning to you all!

Hello @Ladybird4 Windy, some sun and cool. It is still very early spring. Had a lovely coffee morning yesterday. I baked cupcakes, so they went down a treat - I don't think the kiddlies would have eaten much lunch before their sleep in the afternoon. Still, I got a display of their toys - hatchimals, dogs that poo their bone in a different colour, artwork etc. etc.

Woke very early this morning (5am) so read for a long time. Maybe the body is coming out of hibernation and getting ready for daylight saving on the weekend. So an early start to a probably long day. I rest in the afternoon, but can never find that zone to drop off for a bit.

I hope your medical results are satisfactory @Ergates - my mammography and smear test came back satisfactory - so that's me done for another 2 years.

I hope you all have an enjoyable day.

Good morning @Tui34. I did smile at the idea of a toy dog pooping a bone. I will just have to look them up as I have two great nephews who that type of amusement would really appeal to. Great news about your test results. I cannot believe that March is almost over! Your picture for today just brought it home to me.

Good morning all joy of joys! A whole day to play outside ( I am working Saturday so have today off) and the sun is shining! So many plans and so much to do. OH is off for a working job interview later so I have the house to myself so I can really “get on” with things no distractions

It's another lovely day here, so far, with a high of 15 forecast.
I am meeting my cousins for lunch, so my gardening will be curtailed.
Is @Obelix-Vendée still away? Hope all is OK.
Did anyone see the aurora last night? We had a cracking view of it last year, but nothing so far this year.

Just finished prepping this evening’s supper (mushroom bolognaise) and we are off for our regular walk around Sutton Park. Am completely bored of cooking at the moment, OH can’t (or won’t). Find I enjoy it more if I can get the prep all done earlier in the day (or do something that just needs reheating) so that it feels effortless in the evening.

Planning on getting into the garden this afternoon, it’s gloriously sunny at the moment so fingers crossed that lasts. Might kick off my seed sowing.
Just caught our first box moth in the pherenome trap, nematodes are on order :paladin:

No sign of the aurora here last night but being realistic we probably get too much light pollution.

Greetings all. Got back from Paris on Sunday, absolutely shattered after so much walking. Busy all Monday with patch club, Tuesday sewing a new frock for dancing - lightweight cotton linen mix - and a tea dance yesterday.

Sunny today so, finally, some gardening is being done - sowing seeds, planting bare root summer perennials in pots to grow on.

I hope all is well and spring is sprunging for everyone.

                          Good afternoon,

A glorious day here today, sunny and quite mild. There’s a bit of a breeze but that’s good because the washing is getting a good blow.

Did a stint in the garden, trimming back some hedge before the birds start using it to nest in and also cutting down a jasmine that had begun to run a bit rampant and was smothering other plants including a camellia. I’d actually put it in the wrong spot, and didn’t realise how big and straggly it could become. (All part of the learning curve of gardening). Although it did flower, I never managed to smell its fragrance. Anyway, the area looks much better now. Ideally, the stump of it needs digging out, but that’s a job for another day.

I missed doing my Pilates class this morning as I had a call back from the surgery to go during the Pilates session, so I’ll catch up next week as she does several classes a week. I was sorry to miss it as I really enjoy it, but if I motivate myself, I could do some myself later.

I'm so envious of all you with sunshine! After a glorious day yesterday I had expected much the same today as per the forecast but's much colder and very grey, looks like rain.

However OH suggested (rather to my surprise) that we had another go at erecting the Shade Sail and eventually we cracked it and it's up. My son stayed overnight and recommended some ratchet straps to keep it tauter instead of the supplied ropes so I might go and buy some. The cost of erecting it is exceeding the cost of buying it!

Hope the Paris trip was worthwhile @Obelix-Vendée although it doesn't sound like you've relaxed at all since you got back.

I bought some broad bean seeds yesterday and am hoping to get started in the next few days.

Glad you've now got better weather @redstar but working on taxes doesn't sound like fun.

Enjoy your day off in the garden @Debs64.

Just come inside after a wonderful day in the garden still sunny here but getting cold. I have moved 3 half barrels from the front of the house which involved digging up roses, emptying the soil and rolling barrels through the house to back garden then replanting roses so I will be aching tomorrow but it looks good so I am happy. The roses are sulking but I know they are tough cookies and will recover. Then I swept patio and moved about 50 pots around then swept the front and did a bit of weeding ( it’s block paving out the front I loathe it so many weeds always) then potted on some baby plants I bought last week, lots of pelargoniums and a bargain at 3.99 for 20 plants but they will need cosseting to reach full size this year. Just relaxing with a coffee before I sweep through again. Who needs the gym?

                                Afternoon folks.

It stayed dull all day and, quite frankly, a bit chilly so I’ve done some indoor jobs and just waiting for a cake to bake (for work).

It’s good value to buy Pelargoniums (and many other plants) when small - as long as you willing to pot-on a couple of times @Debs64

I hope everyone else has had an enjoyable day. It’s Friday-eve and I have one more shift then start a week off. I always book a week off about now, as long as not Easter Hols, as it’s business time in the garden. I’ve had snow, sunburn and total wash-outs over the years - so hoping for a mild and dry spell (please).
