Similar weather here @zenj with rain forecast from this afternoon into tomorrow -am hoping at least some of it arrives as an Easter present to my water butts.

Probably doing a canal walk this morning, not sure about this afternoon.

Hope everyone has a relaxing Easter whatever your plans may be

Woke to rain here this morning. A fun visit from the family, the burgers were delicious and the boys gobbled them up.
The dog has settled straight into her usual routine, slept through the night, as did we, her snoring obviously didn’t disturb us too much! We will have to schedule in walks every day, but she is quite elderly and slow, so we will actually get less exercise than we do without her.

Pleased to see my nasturtiums have come along in leaps and bounds, and there are oshoots coming up from the begonia tubers. Too wet for outside gardening, but I have some more seeds to sow indoors. I must actually spend some time exploring some neglected hobbies over the weekend. The house is pretty tidy for once, so no dreary distractions!

          Good morning all.

Lovely and sunny at the moment but it is quite windy.

We are going to the Good Friday Service which involves one of the men carrying a crucifix through the village to the church. It's usually quite well attended.

My back is aching this morning, didn't sleep as well as usual, couldn't get comfy. I twisted it when lifting a sack of compost into the wheelbarrow.

I must start making beds. Daughter 1 and family, 3 teenage sons, arrive on Wednesday then go on Saturday before Daughter 2 and family arrive in the evening. D2 will be staying a week. Saturday 3rd May will be a busy day.

Morning. We both had very disturbed nights. I was up reading at 3; felt like someone was stabbing my arm with red hot needles. Then I woke at 4.30, 7.30 and got up at 8.30.
My arm feels much better when I'm upright!
I fancy a curry tonight, so I have a spice taylor kit arriving on the Tesco order. I'm sure that, apart from chopping the veg, I can manage to do the rest. OH is stressed out with cooking. He does enjoy it, usually, but not having to do it every day.
If it's warm enough this afternoon, (if...) I might venture to the greenhouse.

Morning all, although checking with the clock, realise it's actually good afternoon now! Where did the morning go to? Had breakfast in bed as usual and left OH to sleep on in the main bedroom. By the time I actually got up, showered/washed hair etc it was mid-morning so a slow walk down to the shops to collect paper, post cards and buy our Hot Cross Buns. A bit damp and very windy so I actually got my winter padded coat out again. Much warmer walking back home with the wind at my back. Buns were very good with coffee later. Not sure what to do today, it doesn't look very promising and the forecast is for 24 hours of rain - not nice, although the garden sorely needs it.

Thanks for your good wishes @Ladybird4, I do think I might be on the mend today, my sinuses don't hurt so much this morning, the pressure has gone, thank goodness. OH is not too bad either.

So sorry you had a bad night @Penny_Forthem, it must be hell trying to sleep with a broken arm. Presumably you're propped up in bed? Home made curry sounds good, not sure what we'll have, might be sea bass perhaps if OH fancies it.

Golly, that's a lot of visitors @Busy-Lizzie, rather you than me. I tent to get a bit stressed out, particularly with all the cooking involved.

Have a good day folks, especially @Ante1 on the first day of his holidays.

Greetings everyone. Got home at 7:30pm yesterday and absolutely shattered. Had a good time at the patch and needlework expo and learnes lots during my 2 afternoon classes. OH has a golf tournament nearby so stayed with me at the hotel on Wednesday and we went out for dinner. Last night he stayed with a friend who has a house nearby. Home tonight.

Weekly shop this am and now more cake baking. 2 10" square coconut chai traybakes cooling. Next is chocolate carrot cake and a chocolate beetroot too once I can wash the tins. Then 9" round vegan carrot cake with pine nuts and a vegan chocolate cake. If I have time I'll do a coconut rough cake then I have all the icing and ganaches to do.

Rick Stein's Normandy fish pie tonight and, as I'll be shattered again tomorrow, simple pork and apple burgers tomorrow with salads. OH wanted curry but he'll have towait till Monday when I'll have time to do spice mixes and marinades.

Enjoy your hols @Ante1. Lovely to have visitors @Liriodendron and @Busy-Lizzie and I do enjoy it all from planning to doing and catering but it's also nice to have the house back to normal quiet again.

Good healing to all those post op, with injuries or lurgies. Sleep as and when you need it and never mind the clock. My sinusitis is clearing but wakes me up at least twice a night which is exhausting.

That visitor cat is still around and eating loads. Starts hanging about at around 10pm and then sneaks in at midnight or so when we're in bed. Every evening I put out a bowl of croquettes and a bowl of wet food. It scoffs all the wet meat and half the biccies then comes in and eats any wet food mine have left and dives into their croquettes, shoving bowls all over the floor and scattering biccies too. Messy eater with huge appetite. Don't know if it's a pregnant female or an abandoned and starving pussycat. If it's the former I hope it brings the babies to feed so we can tarp them all and get her sorted and them homed.

Friday. In garden some today. Getting 3 inches of hair cut off, then my natural wave will poop more. but don't mind wearing it up in a bun or french twist when its long, it will still be at shoulder length anyway. Used to have it down to my waist when I was young, like age 25 to 35.
Anyway, BIL over today to help in the garden also, husband pays him for his time. And he gets a home cooked meal also. He lives part-time in Poland with his Polish wife, and part-time in America getting his house for sale. Anyway, Blessed Easter to you all. Later.

Hello all, back from visiting MIL, OH did some work on her fence while we chatted. Lazy afternoon and evening planned. Cool and grey here some rain but we need a proper downpour.

                      Good afternoon,
It’s been a grey and drizzly day today, a huge contrast to yesterday which was glorious.
Been busy indoors today, but plan a relaxing evening. Will do fish for tea later.

Good afternoon all. It has been a wet, wet day here - I'm envious of @Ante1's sunshine. I only went out to fill the bird feeder and got quite wet in the process. I've had my heating on as the house was definitely on the chilly side.
@Penny_Forthem I was awake reading from 03:00 and have found myself nodding off on the couch this afternoon whilst making my shopping list for Ocado. It will be interesting to see what I may have either added to/left off the final list.
@Obelix-Vendée and @Ergates those are such kind gestures you make to furry friends. I hope that you just have a ravenous cat rather than a pregnant queen - that would make things easier. @Liriodendron I remember waiting with bated breath last year for tales of Mrs Tiggywinkle from under your shed.
errrrm should we be worried @redstar??

                          Evening all.

Guess who forgot to take the cream eggs to work today?! Oh well - I’ll take them for BH Monday.

I’ve picked up my click n collect shop and checked on Dad so I’m flopped on sofa awaiting lasagne. The email about the alpaca walk is funny - instructs waterproof shoes for the walk and specifically mentioned no open-toe shoes! That must be for the weather optimists who usually wear flip flops to any outdoor event!

                          Take care all.

I think that alpaca walk will be quite magic @AuntyRach. I remember once taking some of my pupils on a day's walking trip to the Lake District and despite a very thorough briefing before hand two of my scallys turned up dressed to the nines -including high heels - as if they were going clubbing. They grumbled and moaned the whole day which reduced their peers and we staff to helpless laughter.

Hi everyone, dry and bright start here, but the wind is getting up now. I know it's not what most people want on a Holiday but we need rain. I was spud planting on the plots earlier and it's not damp till you are half a spade depth down. I felt compelled to water before the earthing up, which made the job even longer. I confess I had to sit a bit between planting and final earthing up. I agree with one of my fellow plotholders when he said, " I used to go home tired now I go home exhausted."
Hope the crop is worth it this year.

Afternoon all, from a quiet house... visitors left just after lunch, and we have been restoring the house to some sort of order. It was lovely having them all, but I'm looking forward to watching Beechgrove and Gardeners' World in peace this evening!

As regards Mrs Tiggywinkle, I think I need to be patient, as @AuntyRach suggests. It's still quite cold at night here, so I hope any potential hedgehog visitors are still keeping warm...

It's been wet all day. Hopefully I'll be able to get into the garden soon to get rid of some of the weeds - though the bullfinches, when not eating the apple flower buds, are cleaning up a lot of dandelion seeds, so I might have to leave some of those.
