    Good morning all.

It's sunny here. Should be sunny periods, 19C today. We've only had one decent rain shower since we arrived on the 14th. The water butts aren't full.

Daughter 1 and family left after lunch yesterday.

I made beds, did washing, ironing and tidying up in the afternoon.

Daughter 2, OH and 3 children arrived last night. We are going to the East Anglian Country Show today. They are all still asleep.

Running out of bread. I can't get out to buy some as boxed in by their hire car.

Bright sunshine here and wall to wall sunshine on the forecast all week.

In the office this morning and then into the garden to finish off the box clipping. I don’t need to work today but fancy clearing the desk so I can have a mini holiday at home in all the sunshine.

Visiting the wholesale Nursery was very enjoyable and I will be going with an organised list next time. I was very restrained but couldn’t resist a bargain Cornus kousa chinensis from the clearance section. Nothing wrong with it other than that it’s outgrown its little 3L pot. About 1.2m tall and promise of a good multi (2) stem shape forming. Cost an astonishing £2 :yahoo:
Found it tucked in at the end of a row and think it was been ignored as it’s only just showing any sign of leaf so not at all eye catching.

Now I just need to decide where to plant it. Just as well they are slow growing as I’m not sure I really have room for it….

The forecast for today was completely different a few days ago so we’ve a definitely unsummery (is that a word?) Sunday roast planned - belly pork followed by rhubarb crumble. I must make up a more weather appropriate shopping list for the coming week

Am exhausted at the thought of all your guests @Busy-Lizzie

I like a paper map too @redstar. We use our satnav a lot but sometimes it’s too logical and we would rather follow a more scenic winding route especially on holiday

For some reason it’s lost my follow on comment which was that it sounds like you are having a lovely time and I hope you enjoy phase II

Cloudy here in north Kent. We're due some sun around lunchtime - although we might get a little hazy sunshine before then.
Should be reasonable weather for gardening after church and lunch.

Morning everyone, yesterday turned quite cool, but it's bright now.
I will check your suggestions again but there are Aphids on the tips of the viburnum and they are not the same. I will try to put the enquiry to the RHS again, not sure why I couldn't get it to work before.
We are going for a meal with family later for younger SD'S birthday.

Good morning. Quiet night but head still feeling like a block of cement so a lazy, dozing and reading start to the day. It's sunny and cloudless and set to get warm later on so I shall have a wee potter down the veggie plot later on.

Bit late now but when I need bread fast I make soda bread @Busy-Lizzie. Takes a couple of minutes to mix and not long to bake depending on the shape. Delish warm or cold or toasted.

I've been on the lookout for a bargain cornus kousa for ages @Butterfly6 as they're very expensive here. I hope your bargain does well for you.

@Ladybird4 I have a pair of high waisted jeans from about 30 years ago which are, apparently, back in fashion and they fit again but will have to wait till autumn now. I wear trousers or jeans for cold and cool weather but cotton frocks when its warm as they're comfier.

Have a lovely day everyone whether pottering at home or out to lunch.

T'was a bit cloudy early on, but clearing to a lovely sunny day.
I had a good night, waking at 1.30 to take painkillers, as per usual. Then had an uninterrupted 6 hours, followed by a doze.
I have some gentle outside jobs lined up and I'm hoping hub will start on the rail down to the lower deck and summerhouse. I dare not go down there without one. He has all the bits required!
I'm at the hospital tomorrow; hopefully stitches out and CT scan to check it.
We were supposed to be going to Llanberis for our 25th wedding anniversary, but a takeout will have to suffice on Tuesday, as he has a late doc's appt.
Loving the sound of plant fairs and bargains.

Well I stand corrected, looked up the life cycle of black bean Apids, and they look like early instars. It seems at that stage they do have 6 legs but change to 4 later. I think we must have been seeing a mass hatching of eggs, it's later that they produce live young.

If you lived closer I'd give you some babes. We have 4 that line our driveway, and two in other areas. they do drop seed and make babies. They certainly look lovely when in bloom the drive lined in white.

Got a call yesterday, looks like we have a tenant for our home in New Bern, NC, she wants a 3 year lease, awesome. While we will miss the place, and the river etc. Her being there will cover the expenses. So far so good, application being done by the Property Manager. A 74 year old women, single with a dog. Her dog care checks out, she keeps it groomed monthly. Some folks do not cut the dogs nails, so they would scratch the wood floors. We will be going down there in the next week, organize stuff, do things and bring stuff back.

Chilly out today. Have a fashion show to get to later. Keeping an eye out for outfits for the end of August California trip/wedding week. And the fancy car show up in Cobble Beach, Canada in September.
                        Later.

Actually I was told that adult ladybirds(bugs) don't eat that many aphids but their larvae do eat lots. Even so sparrows and blue tits etc eat far more. Well we have blue tits nesting in a box on the side wall of the house so I hope they are hungry. :)

I wish the ladybirds and birds would eat the big grey/green aphids that attach themselves to my lupins, but they don’t seem to bother with them and I have to squish them myself. I’ve just been out now to do that job. There were quite a lot of them.
It’s developed into a very warm afternoon.

A glorious day here. We headed out before 9am and there was quite a lot of mist in the river valley. However, by the time we had driven further towards the coast, it was a blue and cloudless sky. Breakfast, and then a walk round the fields, masses of blossom on the trees. Luckily enough shade at the edge of the paths so the granddog didn’t get too hot. She is a currently very shaggy border terrier, and is due to have her coat thinned out for the summer.
She goes home tomorrow, so I then have a day and a half to fill the green bins. Looking forward to catching up on the gardening , she has been quite a distraction.

Good evening everyone. Well the almond cake went down really well today and I have been 'ordered' to make another one for next time so that could become a regular as well as the tea loaf I have to make  I am interested in reading how warm you have all been today as it has been cool here despite being quite sunny. It is the wind chill factor I think as it has been quite breezy all day.
                                I am signing out for today but look forward to catching up with you all tomorrow. @Ante1 sorry;
