It is bone dry and sunny here with cloudy bits. The forecast was for a wet start and then showers all morning. Hey ho. It also says thundery this pm and wet all night and most of tomorrow. We'll see.

So far I've just pottered with my houseplants which are really thriving on the banana skin and orange peel feed. OH's daily banana skin goes into a covered pot filled with water along with the peel of one orange then I strain it at the end of the week, dilute and feed to all the plants, leafy of flowery.

I'll bey you're pleased that tree's gone @lizzie27. Loads more light and less mess.

Enjoy the rest of your visits @Busy-Lizzie. Looking good so far.

I had a small hedge of Hidcote and Edelwiss lavenders in Belgium @AuntyRach and planted ordinary blues at the edge of a ros ebed here but they don't flower much and have gone very woody so I've taken cuttings to plant round the edge of the hen pen now I've bought some stoechas with the rabbit ears that were too tender for Belgium to go with the roses.

Bone dry here too; no cloud and the forecast is the same for the next week.
The flags on the cricket pitch tell me the breeze is light and south south east.
For those in France, what is a 'depandance' please? Something to do with recycling? I thought that was 'decheterie'...
Having an egg mayo bap for lunch. I hankered after a tuna mayo, but can't find any tuna under the stairs. Odd!
More pottering for me this afternoon.

@Penny_Forthem It's usually refers to part of a property so, in our case, that's the annex as it is not main living quarters but also, for insurance purposes, the old farmhouse ruin and the old barns.

Another meaning is being dependent on or addicted to drugs

Lastly it can be a territory eg Montserrat is a British dependency in the Caribbean.

English breakfast to cook now and then pottering for me this pm - garden if it stays dry or sewing.

          Afternoon all!

Bone dry here too. I've just watered one of the newish apple trees with "grey" water as it was beginning to look a bit iffy. There are hosepipe bans in Mayo, and the rest of us have been asked to conserve water, so I'm trying to collect what I can to use on established plants so I feel less guilty about using clean water for the seedlings. The soil is quite dry a spade's depth down, which is really unusual for the west of Ireland; we have around a centimetre of rain forecast for Sunday night, but then no more for the foreseeable future.

The wildlife camera, deployed every night, has only been capturing cats so far. It looks as if our resident shed hedgehog is no more - sad, but not surprising. Maybe we'll have another one eventually. And at least there's no sign that rats have taken up residence under there - one advantage of a lot of feral cats, I suppose...

I've extended a border to accommodate more roses, which have been languishing in pots for too long. They'll be much happier in the ground, especially as we'll be away in Finland for much of June. Still a bit of weeding to do before they get planted - I need to collect more "used" water too, to settle them in.

          Enjoy the weekend, folks!

Yes @Songbird I pour any leftovers on a Bird of Paradise that I kept outside this winter and have just re-potted. Roses in the ground or in pots would love it.

Good afternoon everyone. I have managed to get a lot of work done today and I feel I will be suffering tomorrow. Self inflicted!. Firstly I got my gluten free cake made and iced which made me pleased it was out of the way. I then got my two wall troughs planted up and repositioned - it was a wise move to save the watering until they were in situ. I did find an unopened packet of Swellgel so added some of those crystals to the compost. I noticed that there were some flower buds already on two of the regal pelargoniums. They were a mixed lot so it will be nice to see what colours I have. I do hope that they are not all the same! They will still be nice though. Then I decided (mad fool that I am!) that I would wash the car. The only problem there, as I'm vertically challenged, being I cannot reach into the middle of the roof so that will just have to stay dusty. I couldn't be bothered to open the car doors and stand on the car sills to reach because by this time I was shattered. It looks OK unless you are about 6' 6" or have a drone!

We went to Lanhydrock today, magnificent house and glorious gardens with fabulous rhododendrons. Afterwards we went to Mevagissy and had a beer in a very old pub. I'm going to post more photos on the garden visits thread.

                            Good morning all.

                            Thank you @Ladybird4.

It rained quite heavily in the night. Showers forecast for this morning.

We are going to visit Trelissick today. We'll see the house first and, hopefully, the rain will have stopped for the garden.

We finally got our thunder and rain at about 8pm but, according to thr "pluviomètre" on the weather site we only got 6mm of rain overnight. More like 30mm down towards @Busy-Lizzie's garden. Dry now and set to stay that way with the rain delayed till tomorrow.

I have to run an errand and can then potter. There's an island bed out the front that needs some weeds pulling so I hope the rain will have loosened them and I need to mark the colour sof the irises for when I come to split them as some will end up in the new bed down the garden and filling spaces in another.

                                Happy Sunday everyone.
