The forecast here is for intermittent rain all day, a whole 2mm of it, but it's dry so far. Patchwork club lunch today then usual workshop so no matter but it would have been good to have a good soak for the garden and my plans for weeding tomorrow, after the opthalmologist.

It's great that you've enjoyed your visits and the exercise and food @Busy-Lizzie . Thanks for sharing photos.

Possum not really looking forward to wrok this week either @Debs64 after 2 3 day weeks on the trot and Easter before that. Only a 4 day week this time tho.

A good shout out for International Nurses' Day @Ladybird4. Our local nurses do a great jobe here with vaccines and wound dressings after ops and so on and the ones I've met in hospital are great too despite sometimes punishing schedules.

    Have a good Monday everyone.

Had the all clear from the ear clinic so fit for another 3 months. Went shopping afterwards, very hot by the time I came out of the SM.
Stocked up ready for my son's arrival. Too tired to do anything when I got home.
It has been raining on and off for several hours, various containers in the garden all have about 2 ins of water in them so very satisfactory. No thunder storms so far.
Made a bread and butter pudding for our family meal, never used brioche before, hope it isn't slimy to eat.

Dull here this morning, not sure if we have had more rain during the night, or whether everything is still damp from yesterday’s downpours. Green bins on Wednesday, not too much to do to fill them, as OH has been cutting the grass and I had dug up yet more gaultheria roots. Maybe some bramble removal tomorrow while the ground is soft.
I always make bread and pudding with brioche, @Goldenlily26, not keen on proper bread in puddings. I also make my summer puddings using plain homemade sponge cake instead of bread, not my original idea, but pinched from a Good Housekeeping recipe for an autumn pudding with plums and blackberries.
Didn’t know it was International Nurses Day, great appreciation for them all, underpaid and overworked in my opinion. Their roles, responsibilities and workload have expanded so greatly over the years, but not their pay or full recognition.
We are away next week, so I am going to move some of my more vulnerable pot plants into the shadier spots of the garden. Can’t rely on any rain while we are away. We’ll probably take that with us!

          Morning.
Looking at the lightning maps, there doesn't seem to be any near us at present. We are forecast 2 hours of light drizzle.
I am going out for lunch! First time in 6 weeks. Will have to choose something that doesn't require cutting! And is easy to eat... no spag bol, then. What to wear?
Managed to put a new battery in the scales this morning. Got on with trepidation, to find I have lost weight and seem to be at my goal. How did that happen? (maybe not going out for lunches has something to do with it?)
I got on 3 times to check!
May your butts be full today, everyone!

Brilliant, well done @Penny_Forthem, you deserve a treat. It can't be six weeks since your accident surely? Enjoy your lunch out.

Hope the trip to Wiltshire is without incident @Busy-Lizzie, glad you enjoyed your stay in Cornwall.

You have been very busy again @Goldenlily26, enjoy your son's visit. Bread & Butter pudding with brioche sounds delicious.

We've only had a few odd spots of rain this morning and only a 50% chance of more about three'ish. Looking out the window, I'm doubtful we'll get any at all. I've decided to redo my potting area - after having put it all back yesterday. Have raked out the gravel and lifted the Terram, some of the steel pegs were very firmly jammed in but got them all out with a struggle.
I want to dig the ground out a bit lower and make it level, the big question is where on earth to put the spoil? There aren't many spots left in the garden! Time to go out and have a ponder.

Lunch was rather dire, but it was lovely to see Sue. No chef, so I had a small scampi and chips. She had steak sandwich. Rather brusque service, which was a shame.
No rain to speak of; a drizzle which gave a scent of petrichor, then vanished.
Visitors tomorrow - like busses! We are catering. I have it in hand! We may not be perfect...
One is my friend from Oz, who is staying with a mutual friend.
My word, it's heated up here again.

I wish!! Ours are all empty, now that I have so many plants to water.

I did make a boo-boo today - my "wonderful" OH happily planted a small lavender bush, but not having the strength to dig a deep enough hole, left it standing proud!!

"He who puts her bodges right", got around to re-planting it today. Since I "put it right", the bush has looked worse for wear. I'm not so popular now!!

No rain here. So disappointed. It looked promising this morning and we enjoyed a few large spots - then nothing!

Just been out to water the potted roses, waterbutts running dry.

                    Evening folks.

We had some pictures done for International Nurses Day today and bags of Love Hearts were delivered. Cheers to all nurses far, wide and retired (there’s a few here I think).

I’m hoping to see the full moon tonight but it’s 50:50 with the clouds at the moment.

I hope everyone is ok. Early night and some gardening progs to catch up on. Chelsea starts Sunday.

My thoughts exactly @lizzie27! Sorry to read that your lunch didn't quite hit the spot @Penny_Forthem but I'm sure tomorrow's will be brlliant! @Fourmerkland just give it a good 'sneaky' soaking and it will hopefully pick up.
There was I, comfortably settled to watch Mastermind (not needed for my Quiz League tonight), when there was a knock at trhe door. NDN come to tell me he had spotted a pigeon, trapped in my GH and did I want him to rescue it. I told him thanks, but I can deal with things like that myself so off I trotted. Of course nosy bonk Cricket who had been sleeping next to me had to come and investigate. Normally these birds find their own way out but NDN had been worried about my tomatoes. Anyway, when I reached the GH the pigeon was in panic mode and battered into the window a couple of times. Even Cricket hesitated. Fairly quickly it found the roof lights - that I had only full opened yesterday - and perched for a few seconds before going free. A few pots had been knocked over but no real damage done. Piles of poop everywhere too. I was just glad it was unharmed.
I forgot to say that I went across to see Jack and he was looking very well. I left him with a big wedge of Devils Food Cake to enjoy with his coffee. He was very pleased with the four dahlias I took over for him too.

Sorry about your lunch @Penny_Forthem and hope tomorrow's goes better.

Ours was very good altho trying to make sure 35 women get the apéro, entrée, main and dessert they selected is like herding cats. Very few remembered what they'd ordered but I had lists to hand and we got there eventually but a hiccup with the desserts was unfortunate.

Before it was served I went round and reminded everyone what they'd ordered but Anne-Marie C (we also have an A-M L and an A-M P) who is starting to lose her memory managed to take a dessert intended for Michèle our oldest and grumpiest member so Michèle had to have A-M's. Oops! Other than that everyone was delighted with their meals and the friendly service and the restaurant has gained some new customers. They all want to go back again next year.

OH says we had some rain here but I saw none just 45kms away. We're due 4mm tomorrow so not a soaking.

@Goldenlily26 I ony ever use brioche for B&B pud.

I was rudely awoken this morning by Cricket - who did sound like an elephant crashing about - and I immediately thought 'mouse'. I had to rescue one yesterday. However, it turned out that it was a moth he was chasing and in the end he had to give up in disgust because it escaped to the ceiling, where he tracked all its movements until my promise of breakfast tempted him away. It is a beautiful morning so I will enjoy my walk into the village for my dental appointment at 09:15.
I hope that you all have wonderful days.

We didn’t get any rain either. Lots of rumbling thunder but not even a single raindrop. Nothing in the forecast for the next 10 days. Having said that the garden looks fine but the pond is steadily evaporating and the water butts are dwindling.

Yesterday was a fast day which I find relatively easy but I always seem to feel doubly hungry the next day :dunno: so need to be careful today.

Spent the morning in the office and then retail therapy in the afternoon. Grit and some sweetcorn seedlings from the GC plus watering-eyes at the cost of bedding plants. Am sure they have gone up hugely since last year? I did sow sweetcorn but only 3 germinated, very healthy but a poor return. I can’t sow anymore as I seem to have lost my half-used packets of seeds and the plugs were not much more than anew packet of seeds. I think I’ve accidentally thrown the seeds out aarghhhh… I did a mammoth seed sowing and gardening session and bundled everything together when I came in tired and hungry. I have a horrible feeling that the couple of unfinished seed packets got mixed up with the empties.

Next we went onto the local Range, sellers of all sorts of knick-knacks-noos you never knew you didn’t need. Anyway amongst all the stuff they had some decent picture frames we needed plus some packs of lobelia at just £2.49. I love trailing lobelia and usually have a few pots of just that on its own.

I think we are doing a garden visit today. Will peruse the GW 2-for-1 booklet and NT handbook with my next cup of tea.

Commiserations to all those with drooping plants, disappointing lunches and invading pigeons and moths, dental visits and work. Happy gardening to everyone x
