      3 Day Weekend.jpg
Good morning one and all. Bank Holiday weekend and true to form (and the weather forecast) it is raining! It started here last night - shortly after watering all my plants! My milkman hadn't left one of my items today so I had to leave a message for him. I needed 1L of semi skimmed for the Tea, Coffee and Cakes morning tomorrow so hope they can bring out the missing milk. Just got one more cake to bake as I got the tea loaf done yesterday.

Very stiff and sore this morning. I forgot to take my painkillers before crawling into bed last night. I am now waiting for todays dose to kick in and give me some relief.
I did more pottering, it is amazing how many "little jobs" can be done with not a sign of anything being done.
I spent a long time watering, before weedkiller spraying the perimetre of the Veg. Patch, plus the half my son was unable to clear. I am hoping the current mizzle at the moment will help the weeds take up the solution and kill them off. Goat willow seedlings and buddleia are also trying to invade. So many brambles and bracken, more bracken shoots have appeared inside the greenhouse. It is slowly creeping down the length of the garden. Planted a new Globe Artichoke alongside my existing one.
The Morning Glory seeds I sowed 3 days ago have come through already. I love the colour of them.
I checked out what Mini melons are and what to do with them. I have 3 seeds that have germinated. Hah! Not melons at all. Sharp flavoured miniscule cucumbers that look like melons, they can be pickled, curried, chutneyed or eaten raw. If I get enough I might try pickling some.
I had a plateful of salad with warm Jersey Royal potatoes for dinner. What a waste of money the potatoes are. No real flavour. I am sure it is because they are not grown in seaweed beds as they used to be when I was a kid.
I thought the forecast rain would keep me indoors today but there is only the lightest of mizzle so hopefully another day outside.

Good morning @Goldenlily26, sorry to hear you are feeling sore this morning and fingers crossed the painkillers do their work. The blight in my garden - and it is everywhere - is horse/mares tail. It drives me crazy. I couldn't agree with you more about Jersey royals. I bought some the other day and they were so tasteless as to be disgusting. I remember how delicious they used to be and how I could happily just eat a helping of those with butter and mint. Now they are not worth the extra money you pay for them.

Have to say the famous (in France anyway) Noirmoutier potatoes are not very tasty this year either and expensive. Shan't buy anymore and will wait for my own spuds to come up - all ones that sprouted in the pantry so probably Grenadine but not important. i'll know where they've been and what's been done to them.

It's sunny here but witha haze of cloud high up. Not a long weekend here so no rain forecast but next week is another 4 day weekend for Ascension so maybe then.

In the meantime, I'm labelling spare veggie plants to offer to gardening friends at patchwork on Monday or else garden club members another day. Watering, moving around and planting after that and sowing foxgloves but I also have sewing homework for Monday to fit in.

OH is, finally, playing with that expensive rotavator I mentioned a few days ago and is turning over a veggie bed so I can prep it for my cavolo nero and radicchio. French Mothers' day tomorrow so I might just ask him to plough my new rose and clems bed as he can be noisy between 3 and 8pm today and 9am and noon tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for a lovely day for all, even in the rain if you have some, and hope all aches and pains subside.

              Morning from a dull Wales.
My greenhouse is looking quite business like now. All my spare toms went away with the 'outlaws' yesterday. Just the chillies and peppers to pot on, courgettes and beans to go out and final annuals to plant.
Must go for another drive today; confidence is in short supply.

                  Evening folks.

Been gloomy most of the day so I took the chance to swap the bedrooms round for Summer, so it’s back to the actual “Master” bedroom (that term is outdated/sexist now, apparently. I think we are supposed to say “primary”).

Time to make some supper and relax now. Have a lovely evening everyone.

@Ladybird4 I did go! All of 5 miles! It's a slowly slowly thing. Tomorrow, 8 miles. Then the caravan.
Baked paella for supper. I chopped the chicken and veg.
I must post a pic of my snapdragons. They are luscious.

                        Evening all.

The sun is currently shining, but we have had Proper Rain. The lawn is already looking greener... there's more forecast, too. No doubt I'll be fed up with it before long, wanting to cut the grass and do some weeding...

                          Evening all,

I’ve had a busy few days so haven’t posted here for a while.

Well done @Penny_Forthem, your confidence will grow the more you drive.

It’s been a dull day here, but not cold. We had some much needed rain during the night, but really need much more to have any real impact - the grass is still looking scorched in patches.

Not sure I would get used to saying primary bedroom @AuntyRach, either main or master bedroom would be my terms, so I suppose I’m outdated .

OH and I have been busy in the garden this week, tackling an overgrown hedge at the back and an overgrown patch at the top end of our front garden - it was awash with buttercups, dandelions and other weeds that I don’t know the name of, along with Chinese lanterns and campanula, both of which had run riot. I love the campanula, but want to keep it under control. I quite like the Chinese Lanterns, too, but they take over (we didn’t plant either of these, but inherited them when we bought the house). Luckily, both of these are easy to pull up, but the weeds less so. Our plan, now the area is cleared, is to put down paving slabs as an extra sitting area, leaving a little patch for greenery. That’s the plan, anyway .

Good morning one and all. Well done @Penny_Forthem! You will soon be up and away to the caravan and back to your familiar life pattern. You must feel very relieved after a long drawn out recovery. Getting there in the end is all that matters. Tea, coffee and cakes day today after Church this morning and I'll be popping any cake left across to Jack. Yesterday's rain has certainly perked everything up. I do need to get into the garden again so we'll see how this afternoon pans out. If you have something special planned for today I hope any damp weather does not put you off and you enjoy every minute.

A quick hello from sunny Southwold. We had a painless journey after a painful start. I managed to stub and badly bruise, possibly break, a toe -ouch!! Luckily some ibuprofen cream and strapping has meant I can still walk ok and of course I was sat down for quite a while on Friday whilst travelling here.

We visited Anglesey Abbey on the way, although a shorter walk round than we might have had. Many of the roses are yet to bloom but it was a relaxing green stop on the journey. Yesterday was my granddaughter E’s birthday so the zoo and birthday cake were the day priorities. It was very grey but only the odd spit of rain and very mild.

E and family are off to the Circus which is visiting this week plus the beach and OH and I are off to East Ruston Old Vicarage. Cant wait, we went a couple of years ago in August so looking forward to seeing it again and in a different season.

Tomorrow is planned as a beach day, weather permitting.

Hope everyone is having an enjoyable Bank Holiday weekend and getting their desired balance of sunshine and rain x

Go for it Penny. I remember after coming out of a cast and ginormous boot when I broke my ankle, I was surprised at how nervous I was to begin driving again. I started by driving around the block, then going to the SM late in the evening and driving around the car park. I took my dog with me for company! When I had my 2nd joint replacement op. on it I had to wait 5 months before I was allowed to drive and I found that really hard work, I was of course much older by then which may have been part of my problem. A few months down the line and you will not even think about it.
