    Hello,

I am based in Sheffield in the UK and trying to source a specific plant on behalf of my parents for a cat called 'Georgie' who has recently passed away two weeks ago.

I believe that is it a mimulus plant, otherwise / also known as a monkey plant as well?

Mimulus, commonly known as Monkey Flower, is a popular choice for gardens in South Yorkshire. Mimulus Georgie, specifically, is a hybrid variety known for its mounded growth habit, attractive yellow flowers, and ability to attract hummingbirds. It's also heat-tolerant and blooms in spring, summer, and autumn.

I believe that is may come in seed / bedding plant as well as shrub format but I can't find it anywhere and want it ideally in the shrub format please.

May you be able to help and / or advise at all please?

    Thank you

    Mimulus Georgie's Characteristics:

    • Common Name: Monkey Flower.
    • Hardiness: 20°F (-6.7°C).

    • Soil: Prefers well-drained, moist soil.
    • Watering: Requires regular watering, especially during dry periods.
    • Sunlight: Thrives in full sun, but can tolerate some shade.
    Mimulus Georgie's Uses:
    • Garden Borders: Can be used in borders for their mounded growth habit and vibrant flowers.

    • Containers: Also thrives in containers on patios or decks.

    • Wildlife Gardens: Attracts hummingbirds, making them a valuable addition to wildlife gardens.

      American site?

I think mimulus like damp areas I could be wrong, only ever grown them once as a summer flowering annual, but I dont know if there are hardy perennial varieties.

Grown as annuals means they only last one year and then you start again either with seed or a plant from a garden centre.
Perennials last from year to year.

@sheffield123456 , 'grown as annuals' refers to any plant/flower - like mimulus,- which only flowers for one year, then dies. Plants/flowers which grow back in following years are known as 'perennials' and may live for many years. Plants/flowers which are grown from seed one year, and flower the following year are called 'biannuals'.

In the UK I think mimulus are only grown as annuals, so unless your parents want to collect or buy seeds every year, they won't be able to 'keep' the plants for more than one season.

Maybe you could find a perennial plant called 'Georgie' to plant in memory of their pusscat.

Probably not available in the UK? It's origins are in California. There are indications in the excerpt you inserted that this plant is at home in the USA, not in the UK, for example the use of farenheit ° for temperature rather than C° and inches/feet for height and spread, instead of metric.
