I don't know about words but something I dislike is that artificial laughter they put on TV comedies ... not that I watch many, I find them boring.
But they put this loud laughter, and people screeching with hilarity, at something so unfunny that it doesn't even raise a smile with me.
Am I a miserable git ? The answer is yes

@Michael Hewett . I use hearing aids. They just make the 'laughter ' even louder and it takes a while for my hearing to adjust to voices again. It's too much effort.
I know when something's funny. I don't need someone to push a button to tell me. Similarly, if there's something pretty in a gardening programme or something 'amazingly skilful' ( is autocorrect correct?) in a cookery programme, I don't need 'appropriate ' music to alert me to the fact.

Oh yes - the canned laughter is enough to drive anyone mad as do the screams and screeches popped in to just make sure you did get the joke.
Same with programmes - especially the wildlife ones - which insist on playing continuous music. I can picture the wildlife being filmed and holding paws/flippers/WHY over their ears and muttering "Oh God, here we go again ".

Loud music at the break every 2 games during the tennis is also deeply irritating. :th scifD36:

@shiney ex- adult literacy tutor, I suppose I should've known but it looked wrong. I was never afraid to tell my students if I couldn't spell something but I was pretty good a it.:star:

And the history/archaeology type programs that always have to have a background of choral music - basically people going oooo-OOOO-oooo, and it seems to be the same bloody piece in every program.

I've noticed that's happened to all sports - when you see news items from a big horse racing meet there's always music blaring out.

Deal. I didn't think much of that old game show, "let's make a deal " and I cringe when I hear Trump say it. It cheapens the process of coming to an agreement on important issues between countries. I guess it does ring true regarding the value of that type of arrangement when one side goes back on their word routinely but it still rankles to hear that vulgar term in this instance.

The man sounds like the old style crooked used car salesman!

The teachers at school were pretty strict on us with regard to spelling and grammar. They didn't want us talking like wot some did. :heehee:
