I had about an hour this afternoon potting up a newly bought, and looking a bit sorry for itself pink Phlox. Some dead heading and watering ( needn't have bothered as tipping down now ! ). Installed the solar fountain on my latest " experiment ". Think it would be better with ceramic pots, but just wanted to get an idea for how it could look. Could " age " the plastic maybe :loll:Seen a few YouTube videos. 20250623_070737.jpg

Didn't do a lot yesterday apart from deadheading, some plant divisions put into the ground, tied in sweet peas and a few other bits and bobs. Too windy to do the things I'd like to have done, and the rain was light, but again- not suitable for using an electric drill!
Today is wetter, so I doubt anything much outside will be done. I have some work on my side gate to do, but that'll have to wait till tomorrow... maybe. Weather dependent again.

Weeded another section of the veg patch. Some parts like concrete and difficult to get down to the roots. Cut back some swiss chard from last year that is bolting (well it would do after so long) but managed to save some good leaves for dinner tonight.
Some drops of rain but no good for the garden or water butts so had to water while it was overcast instead of this evening.

I didn't deliberately plant them they just sort wandered in, however a couple of kilo of free potatoes is not too be sneezed at.

I'm still digging out the soil from the terrace stone trough which is hard work. There are lots of small stones about half way down (for drainage?) so I'm having to spend time prising them up.
I'm also running out of places to put the soil - I seem to spend a lot of time in this garden carrying half buckets (all I can manage) of soil to and from!

Nothing to do in the garden today, which is rare, so after a walk by the sea I sat in the garden reading a gardening magazine. And I didn’t get up to move or prune anything. Could be gardening fatigue setting in .

Finished planting up all of the pots, with fuchsias, Snapdragons and marigolds. The other pots have gladioli.

Yesterday I trimmed the tops of my two Griselinia hedges and applied a second treatment of Mobacter on my two lawns, anticipating rain which has happened in two heavy showers today :).

Two days ago, I tidied up the remains of the wildflower beds and the Ox-eye Daisies behind it by the fence. I was thinking about watering yesterday, but we got a 2 cm rain over night, which is hardly enough for the surface. We need rain.

Mostly watering again. We did finish a couple of pots, so we finally have things planted up. Need to get to the plots today. Mostly watering again, especially the recently transplanted lettuce.

Looking at the forecast, I'll be rummaging through the shed to find the sprinkler. I may be a while...

                          I'll send you some rainwater @Loofah ;)
It's just gone off here, so I'll get a walk and then maybe get something done outside today, as it's meant to stay fairly dry with a good breeze. Yesterday was pretty rubbish, apart from a couple of drier hours in the afternoon, so I didn't bother attempting anything.
I should get my side gate finished [fingers crossed] and then maybe some small plants put in position. I have a viburnum to lift as it's not happy where I've put it, and I'll replace that with some seed grown foxgloves and Jap. anems. I have some small cuttings of hedging material that I could get in too.
I should really turn the compost bins, but I may spend some time being entertained by the birds instead...

Today I am mostly catching up on watering and deadheading. I normally do some of that before work in the morning, but it's the first day this week I haven't had fever, so there's lots of it to do today.

I am also doing a bit of weeding / tidying up / pruning. The most dramatic one was cutting back really hard a clematis Montana. I like the plant but I also love how much tidier the area looks after it has been cut down.

Been really busy this week, early starts and finishing later than intended. The next 3 days will be far too hot so trying to keep cool and trying to preserve anything in the garden showing signs of distress will be the priority.
I did plant my climbing borlottis yesterday , i sowed 40 of them two weeks ago and all 40 came good and they were 18” tall going in the ground. I dont think i have ever had such success with anything else - it did catch me on the hop as i expected failures so i have had to make a longer structure than intended to support them. Hopefully they will provide lots of fresh beans and dried beans over the coming year. They replaced my first first early potato crop which yielded over 10 lbs from 9 plants and i have been really pleased with them and will grow them again next year , i used Rocket which were lovely and white , thin skinned and blemish free.
