This is Allium Lavender Bubbles (horrible name ). I was intrigued by the fact that it is compact, has tidy foliage and multiple flowers which are a good rich purple. It flowers later than others, from summer to autumn. Good for the front of a border or a container.

Mixed shrub, grass and perennial border, not too tidy I hope .

The only Clematis that has survived in my garden, Etoile Violette.

He is actually a Red Kite but certainly a magnificent creature. Our other three Red Kites (two are youngster) are nowhere near as showy.

It's very difficult to catch a photo of them when they swoop down, very fast, for their little treat.

I am soooo disappointed! I made big efforts to find lily bulbs in the autumn to plant ready for this year. Eventually I found some and planted them deep under daffodils, in a large container near the conservatory door, for an early Spring flowering. Everything went well, daffs did well, died down and lily spears appeared. They have grown into magnificent stems, all with 4 flower heads atop. They have sat there for a couple of weeks teasing me, growing, expanding, getting ready to pop.
Which the first one did yesterday. I went out to admire and sniff.
              NO SCENT!

Obviously my mistake in choice of variety. I have in my mind, already committed them to the compost heap when they go over. I cannot have scentless lilies in my garden.

The view across the front garden is currently dominated by Anthemis 'E.C. Buxton' - the very first thing I would plant in any new garden.

Standing on the lawn Helenium 'Mardi Gras' certainly catches the eye. Behind is the alcove with all Mrs LS's colourful pots (and behind that the office where I'm typing this)

Oh how disappointing. The same thing happened to me with freesias. I particularly looked for a listing that said "fragrant". Not a whiff.

Here’s some of my garden at the moment, all of my roses have completely finished their first flush so whilst I wait for the full glory of the dahlias it feels a bit drab.

My wildlife pond, which is an absolutely full of life, loads of damselflies, froglets, newts and bees.
