Terrace in the Mediterranean

I'm surprised you don't have to water every plant every day - it shows you've chosen well for your conditions!

 

The first bloom of the honeysuckles is passing. They have a delicious fragrance. They're now covered in powdery mildew... I hope I can keep them from deteriorating too much.

This year, the tradescantia has sprouted more vigorously than ever

 

Last May, with the succulents in flower . This year different ones have bloomed than last year.

This year the orange ones has had a second flowering more profuse than ever, a big second burst . Other years, after the first flowering, it has only produced single flowers here and there. The second burst this year:

Watering every night... the photo is from mid-June, and it's currently showing few flowers. The Boston ivy has started to throw the leaf and is becoming bare... it did this last year... maybe I was distracted by some watering or by the intense heat we've had at the beginning of July...

 

Intense heat is very difficult to work against. Hopefully your Boston Ivy has been shedding leaves to manage keeping others on. Even in our gentle climate here, a hot spell sees a lot of crispy foliage on the ground by August.

 

Afternoons spent on the shady terrace, with the sea breeze and the freshness provided by the vegetation, are a welcome refuge in these hot early July days.

7 km in a straight line.

 

So you can catch a breeze. We are 13km as the crow flies from Armacao de Pera and probably the same from SB Messines at the foot of the mountains.

Where are you from?

 

Next to Valencia, at the oposite end of the peninsula, on a small promontory with hardly any obstacles to the coast. We get a wonderful breeze in the summer.

We love Portugal, so close and yet so distant...
