Good news and not so good news; good news is that my cousin is coming over from Vancouver island next year.
Not so good is that we've cancelled our short break away as hub still isn't feeling 'right'. We can rebook when he is.
We might head to the caravan, though, as we can control when/what he eats, which we can't at a hotel. At least the weather looks to be cooling down.

Cooler today - only 28C forecast - and there's a breeze. Still too hot and dry for gardening tho I did get all my lacey hostas de-snailed and re-potted up on the terrace yesterday where I can keep a closer eye on them and maybe get some healthy looking leaves.

Indoor pottering and sewing for me then and more staining when OH gets back from golf and can help me lift the base to clean it for staining to match.

Hope your OH feels better soon @Penny but surely you can tell hotels about diet restrictions?

I trust you fair has gone well @Ladybird4 but I'll be pleased when Wimbledon is over. Too much of it on TV for some of us.

Interesting about meringues @Blue arbour. Haven't made a pavlova in a while but will bear that info in mind.

True @Obelix-Vendée, but he would like to be able to enjoy the food on offer, rather than being restricted.

31o in the conservatory. Waiting for the mens tennis final match. Yes, I agree, pastry was a bad call. I managed to water the greenhouse and runner beans first thing, then indoors.

Have just heard from my kids, my ex. had a severe stroke and was taken into hospital on Sat. He is sedated and on life support. My daughter cannot get back as she is in the middle of nowhere on a dive boat in Norway, fortunately she called in to see her father on the way to the airport. My son managed to get an overnight flight from Calgary and is due to land around mid-day today. Hopefully he will be in time to see his father before it is too late.
It is at times like this I feel for my children, they have seen their father deteriorating progressively over the last few months but been unable to do anything to help. It is unlikely their father will be able to go home if he recovers from the stroke so at least that decision has been taken out of their hands.
These situations are so difficult for the family. I hope your OH recovers soon Penny. It is certainly not fun when you cannot enjoy food.

                  Good afternoon everyone,

Still very warm here but slightly cooler than yesterday plus there’s a warm breeze.

I hope your strawberry fair was a great success @Ladybird. Enjoy the final this afternoon. I’m not a fan of tennis, so haven’t been following it.

That’s a shame about your short break away @Penny_Forthem and I hope your OH is soon feeling better. I can understand his reluctance to go away though. On the other hand, you have something to look forward to next year with the visit of your cousin from Vancouver.

That’s sad news about your ex @Goldenlily26. As you say, a difficult situation for the family.

Good evening all. Strawberry Fair was a success - despite the heat - and I got home in plenty of time to watch the tennis. I enjoyed the men's final and wasn't worried who won. They are both lovely guys and it will be a cert they will be back at Wimbledon next year. It seemed strange seeing Andre Agassi, who was my Aunt's absolute favourite, without any hair but oh my still a good looking guy.
@Penny_Forthem sorry to read the news of your OH and hope that youcansqueeze in that visit to the van and how exciting to be seeing your Cousin again next year. I was so sorry to hear about your ex @Goldenlily26, difficult times indeed.
I am going to wish you all good night now. See you all tomorrow. My lumberjack is coming tomorrow.

Good morning all. Yesterday's excitement after the Strawberry Fair and tennis meant I slept a little better last night except I was woken by His Majesty, who had brought me a cute little mouse at 02:20. Rescued and safely released. I dread to think what neighbours would think if they spotted me in the garden. Am I bovvered?! It is looking a bit overcast just now and the Beeb weather is threatening thunderstorms. Seeing is believing!

A great tennis final. No wonder I was useless at it. I thought you just held a raquet, almost as big as oneself, and hit the ball hard enough to get it over the net, if you were lucky! Listening to the modern day commentators discussing the nuances of body position, grip, angles etc., is edifying to say the least. I do not think I would even see the ball if someone hit one at me, travelling at 130mph like those 2 young men did yesterday.
Does anyone else worry about the Princess of Wales like I do? She is so thin, when she stands side on she almost disappears. She always looks stunning, I feel her clothes try to disguise just how thin she is. Similar to Diana. I hope not.

We have just had a very small downpour. Sun out again, more rain please, I do not want to water.

I had a shower and washed my hair this morning, now I feel as if I have run a marathon! I had planned to do a whole list of jobs but it does not look as if that is going to happen. I might write a letter and do some patchwork. On the other hand I may not. For some reason my hips do not want to function this morning.
For the last 2 nights I have resorted to having a mug of hot milk with a large tot of brandy and a teaspoonful of sugar before going to bed. It has worked a treat. 2 whole nights of solid sleep
It is amazing how a decent night's sleep helps you deal with the ups and downs of life.

Waiting for my tree man now. Seen the neighbours to give them warning so they can get their cars out of the way. I think I might try your remedy for sleepless nights @Goldenlily26.

Hello. Broken night here too as the visitor knocked a plastic bowl off the counter in the shower room behind our bedroom at 2am. Then Cosmos decided he wanted to goa out at 5am but needed me to open the front door in case the visitor was about. Then Minstrel came in damp at 6am wanting breakfast and cuddles and then Cosmos came back in wanting breakfast and cuddles.

Slow start for me then as I dozed to try and catch up. It is cooler today with cloudy spells and no more rain to add the the measly 0.4mm shower early on. French national holiday today so no noisy gardening after 12 noon. OH has been out on the mower and I shall be staining wood this pm.

Sorry about your news @Goldenlily26 and hope you get your own aches and pains sorted out soon.

                              Good morning to you all.

A quick pop in - it is Bastille Day and a National Holiday. The military parade is on with all pomp and circumstance!! "We" are in front of the television and I came in from the garden to find him standing to attention for the national anthem with a firm salute at the end....he is ex- Air Force so very patriotic. Need more like that in every country!!

Wr had a super storm on Saturday evening with lots and lots of rain. Everyone will be breathing a sigh of relief amongst the first will be the firemen and the farmers of animals and land alike.

The heat is back so salads for lunch with a glass of chilled white!!

                              Enjoy your Monday everyone.

I forgot to press "Post Reply" again!! Hot now at 32°C but inside in the cool with la Fizzette!

Does anyone else worry about the Princess of Wales like I do? She is so thin, when she stands side on she almost disappears. She always looks stunning, I feel her clothes try to disguise just how thin she is. Similar to Diana. I hope not.

She has not long finished her cancer treatment, when I finished mine it took me nearly 3 years to put my weight on.
