Good afternoon everyone, much fresher here today but no sign of any rain. We had our evening meal out on the patio yesterday after watching theTennis, so a bit later than usual. We sat out till it was almost dark and there were some very dark clouds forming, but nothing materialised.
Regarding the Princess, it may be the result of treatment, but equally, some of us are just naturally thin. I eat plenty but it has taken me 50 odd years to put on half a stone. Depending on how you work it out I'm either under weight or just at the very bottom of the normal range for my height. I was told when I was 18 I would fill out when I got older but I'm still waiting!!

        Yesterday was busy, busy...
We'd asked the 'outlaws' to a BBQ via Whatsapp. She thought we were at the caravan, so they went there... no one there. Though we had a laugh about it, I felt guilty, until I checked my messages and found the one saying, 'we are at home this weekend, so fancy a BBQ?'
Moral of the story - read the small print! Anyway, it was a very pleasant evening with them, even if they were a bit late!
(good job the van is only 9 miles away!)
I guess the princess has her physicians, dietician, personal trainer, stylist, etcetera and must be very conscious of the 'image'. She appears to cope effortlessly, but I bet sometimes she's like a swan.

Hello all, just back from nearly 4 days away in Surrey. OH drove the old car and I had a lift with a friend in a modern one - much easier! Nice hotel and the food was good as was the Gala Dinner. We were so thankful there was air conditioning although sadly not in our bedroom, had to make do with a fan. It was far too hot to walk anywhere so we didn't do any local sightseeing at all, just mainly sat around and nattered to all our old friends, good to catch up on all the gossip. I helped out on the tombola table some of the time.

Sorry to hear your news @Goldenlily26 but glad you've found a remedy for a good night's sleep, as you say, it makes all the difference.

I, too, have thought the Princess of Wales has looked far too thin for some time but her cancer treatment probably does account for a lot of it. She is, or was, a very sporty, active woman by all accounts which must help with weight management.

We look like we've had some rain here as there's an inch or so in all the trugs I left in the courtyard. The runner beans are busy 'running' but the broad beans have suffered in the heat, as have the raspberries which I was hoping to have for a pud tonight. Still plenty of blackberries though.

            Hello all.

            I haven't read back yet.

Don't think I posted yesterday. Nothing happened to chat about anyway. I watched the men's tennis final and did some deadheading.

I've had a good day today. I do The Times newspaper daily quiz every morning when I have coffee in bed. There is a chat thread after it. It was suggested a while ago that people from East Anglia could have a meet-up. The meet-up was today. We meet at the Cathedral café in Bury St Edmunds, only 35 mins from us, so I went. There were only five of us but it was lovely to meet them. I suppose on a weekday younger people would have been at work, but most of the quizzers are retired. We chatted so much that the meeting went on and we ended up having lunch too. We are planning another meeting in the winter, maybe in Norwich.

OH and I did the weekly shop when I got back. He had had an appointment with Spec Savers in the morning. He needs another on Thursday as he will need me to drive him home. He has another cataract and they want to put drops in his eyes.

              Evening everybody.

Been busy with work and some life admin including a car issue. Enjoying the cooler temps this evening and hoping the rain will materialise for the poor garden.

You are so right about a good sleep being important for general wellbeing @Goldenlily26, it makes such a difference.

With that in mind, I can finally have an early night and drift off without the noisy fan. Take care all.

Good morning everyone. I forgot to say yesterday that the tree felling went without a hitch. I could not believe how quickly. In less than fifteen minutes the lumberjacks arrived, cut down the tree, ground out the stump, sawed up and stashed the logs for me and went. I do feel a little sad as it ws a beautiful tree - just in the wrong place. The garden looks huge without it.
Quiz night was interesting as it turned out I was to be Quiz Meister. It was like being back in work! The team didn't win but we weren't thrashed.
When I went to collect my milk bottle off the step I noticed several drops of rain on my car and that was it. Not impressed tap controller! I'm making a quick SM trip first thing this morning just in case the thunderstorms do arrive later.
I did have to smile at your tale @Penny_Forthem - made me think of last week's quiz when we arrived at the wrong venue.

Not a lot happened here yesterday. I was quite excited when I saw the massive piles of black clouds rolling towards us from the horizon. Yeah! Rain.
Wrong! the wind blew them North of us so apart from a few tiny downpours, no rain.

I have my appointments for the X-rays on my leg and a trip to the chiropodist this afternoon. It can be really painful having my nails cut but bliss afterwards.

I watched the close of the Cricket match, great fun. Poor India. Well done England.

A much cooler day here yesterday, we went out for a walk, and got thoroughly rained on halfway through. Luckily, I had popped our raincoats in a backpack, helped a lot. Still ended up with wet feet through my ‘dry’ trainers and the bottom of my trousers got soaked. Everything dried up once the sun came back out.
Otherwise, mainly replenishing the fridge, then going for a blood test. Had to go to the garden centre for bird food, but it was so hot by then, and we hadn’t had lunch, that I just dashed in and got what I needed and came home. Not much evidence of the rain at home. Temperatures and weather can be very different here from the coast, despite being only 10 miles away.
Out today for lunch at a seaside hotel with the local ladies group. I’ve bought some excellent ham for OH, and he can make himself some chips to have with it.
Sorry to hear about your ex, @Goldenlily26.
Sensible to defer your trip, @Penny_Forthem, my OH hates being away from home when he is off colour. Glad you had a good time at the ‘do’, @lizzie27. Hope your shoes behaved!

A lot cooler here today and rain in the forecast from around now until teatime. Fingers crossed it appears, it’s cloudy and breezy at the moment.

Yesterday was spent in the office. It was a bit if a struggle as feeling rather drained and woolly. Think the heat and poor sleep was catching up with me. I spelt much better last night.

Waiting for the shopping to arrive and then we are off to our local John Lewis. Want to look at fabrics for my loom chair project. The Harlequin fabric I’ve fallen in love with is very pricey and will need pattern matching which of course means even more fabric needed. So want to loom at some other and also hoping to find a cheap off cut I can do a trial run with. It’s going to be quite tricky as the back cushion needs to curve to fit neatly.

Am not sure what else we will be doing today. Am hoping it all has to be indoor activities due to lots of fabulous rain.

                        Good morning all.

We are going to Cambridge later today for a meal out and to see Twelfth Night in the grounds of Kings College. Rain is forecast, we'll have to take macs. Sunny now.

Had bad news about our lovely gardener in Norfolk. He's giving up, but he has recommended another gardener who will be coming to have a look tomorrow.

The wet stuff has arrived; proper splashy drops.
I was so tired, I slept the clock round.
Hub has splashed bleach on his brand new navy shorts! We may venture out to M & S in Prestatyn this afternoon, as it's too wet to garden. I could do with some new underpinnings, too.
Sounds like a grand (if wet) evening @Busy-Lizzie

G'day! I've been pottling around cleaning the kitchen and oiling the step support. Stopped for lunch then a quick noodle on here while I drink my tisane and there's a maila sking if our friends can arrive a day earlier than planned. That's tomorrow! That means bringing the big clean forward and I have a committee meeting tomorrow and OH is out golfing all day today.

Hope your OH is feeling beter @Penny_Forthem and that your X-rays find the problem tho not sure how that will work if it's a soft tissue problem with ligaments.

Good luck with the weather for the play @Busy-Lizzie and for finding a new gardener.

Glad you've had some rain @Tui34 and I hope it's put out those fires or at least contained them.

Happy fabric hunting @Butterfly6. Feel free to share the rain.

We're in the mid 20s today thanks to soem clouds and a breeze but no rain in sight. Apart from a blip on Friday, which will be hot, we'll be staying in the mid to high 20s for the next week or so.

I hope everyone's OK and neither baking nor squelching too much.

Woo hoo! At last! Lovely rain and lots of it. Thank you tap controller! I got to the SM just as the rain started. I had risked going without a coat but I didn't care. It was so refreshing.
Good win that @Goldenlily26. They are coming up to Old Trafford next which is why it is probably teeming down now. @Butterfly6 your project definitely sounds like a labour of love. I hope you are successful with your trial run. I really hope that you manage to miss the rain @Busy-Lizzie and that you enjoy Twelfth Night. Shame about your gardener but if he is able to recommend someone else then you should feel reassured.

Afternoon everybody, I've been feeling drained all day so have been taking it easy, apart from our usual walk and doing two wash loads. We've had bouts of rain - lovely rain!, some quite heavy but short showers and it's looking very grey out there at the minute.

That is such a shame @Penny_Forthem but so easily done. I've ruined many a top or trousers with unnoticed splashed bleach when cleaning the loo. Think I've probably just ruined a linen dress today as I'd forgotten it was in the dark wash and OH put it all in the dryer. Having said that, I'd decided to give it to the charity shop as it's too large and baggy for me now, perhaps I'd better try it on again in case it's shrunk!

That was good going about the tree being cut down so quickly @Ladybird4. We've just about got used to our garden without the big tree that was felled recently. It's made a huge difference to our back garden.

Hope you enjoy the play in Cambridge @Busy-Lizzie and that it doesn't rain on you.

Sounds a really tricky project @Butterfly6, good luck with it.

We shall have to get up earlier tomorrow as the builders are coming for exploratory works on our cracked terrace wall.
