Hello, I've read your tips for new members but I don't see the list of topics you show in the example screenshot. I'm in General Gardening Discussions, so I just see the list of individual discussions, but not how to post. Sorry, don't know how to DM either! :-((
Sorry Pete and Escarpment, but it then asked me for names of members to be able to post. This is a last resort! Hope someone can help.

You need to keep clicking on the headings and it works down in stages until you find the forum that you want to post into.
So under each heading you get a series of sub heading, when you get down to thread you want you post into the box at the bottom and click post.

There is a button top right for posting a new thread.

I just use New Posts @RedFox21 and I actually just keep it [New Posts] bookmarked , and click on that each time.
If you click on new posts, you'll get a list of threads and you can just click on that and then reply. Scroll down until you find one that interests you.
The thing I found difficult to understand when I first started using the forum is - once you post on a topic/thread, that thread disappears from the main page. If you want to check it again, you need to click on Recent Posts.
You can also follow certain threads by clicking on that option [when you're on the thread itself] and you can sign up for alerst to those too, by going into your own settings.

If you want to mention a particular member, place the @ symbol ahead of their username, eg @RedFox21

Everything is a learning curve, feel free to ask away :blue thumb:

Re the @ and then typing the first few letters of a name - I have to use a mouse or it doesn't work. I don't understand why the touch/key pad [laptop] won't work, yet it does with the mouse.

It must be down to the Firefox browser, but I have to use that or the forum doesn't work properly for me at all!

I use a touchpad and have a similar problem @fairygirl. I type the @ and a few letters then the name will display but I have to hover over it and hit the enter key to bring it up. I use Edge so I doubt it's a Firefox problem. I've had a number of ongoing problems with the functioning of GC over the years but have adapted to them. None of them happen on other forums.

That's interesting @Sheal . I'm not tech savvy enough to know the reasons, but it must just be a glitch of some kind. I've not had the problem elsewhere either. I found it worked now and again, but the mouse makes it easy.
    First world problems eh? ;)

I just use chrome, it works for me.
I never use the stupid pad on the lap top, its really tedious IMO.
      Always use a mouse.

If you use a mouse you still have to click on the full name when it comes up after typing a few letters.
