How frustrating on the dog adoption front, @Penny_Forthem. Are there alternative shelters to contact in your area? We have the RSPCA, Blue Cross, Dogs Trust and an independent shelter in the next town. I would have thought there must be quite a few older dogs, perhaps ones whose owners have died, or are no longer active enough to care for them, who would benefit from re homing. I’m sure there are opportunities for fostering, especially as many shelters seem to be full to capacity.

Out for breakfast and a walk, thankfully stayed dry and the sun popped out a bit, but not long enough to overheat the dog. OH is still suffering from his sore knee, and the dog is elderly and very slow, so between them, we hobbled round the field and saw the donkeys.
If we want to fill our green bins today, I’ll have to head out shortly and attack something! I think it will have to be brambles. I usually shred them to get as much as possible into the bins, but I am going to run out of energy, so they’ll have to be scrunched up and stuffed in as they come.

I’ve changed the bed, put the summer weight duvet back on, the ultra light one isn’t quite warm enough, we needed an extra blanket on top last night. Just finishing my coffee and heading out.
@Goldenlily26, does your gp practice have a physio on the staff? I was able to self refer to the physio who specialises in musculoskeletal problems, with my painful femur. Got an in person appointment with him weeks before the earliest telephone appointment with a doctor! Referred for X-rays which ruled out hip and knee problems, or anything sinister in my bone marrow, and I was given exercises to build up the surrounding muscles. Touching wood, everything has settled down and I am pain free, at least in that area!

I checked on the services podiatry deal with and they are not for me. No bunions, corns or ulcers. etc. So I called the local hospital where I had my replacement ankle fitted. Spoke to the Sec. of the surgeon who did my op. She was lovely, told me to ask my GP to refer me back to them.
When the GP called me he told me the Xrays showed my knee, fibula and ankle are all normal so no point in going back to a surgeon. He now thinks the problem is nerves coming from my spine so I am seeing a physio in a couple of weeks time. He also told me not to talk, rest my throat.
A friend went to the surgery to pick up my repeat prescription and they have only given her 1 item instead of 6 so now I have to chase them up about that.
I wish things could be more staight forward!

A wonderful day for gardening. Rain at night and warm sunshine during the day. Just what we need. My runner beans will be relishing it.

If you have no joy with the RSPCA @Penny_Forthem , it might be worth contacting the Dog's Trust.

Manchester or perhaps Liverpool are your nearest ones I think, if you don't mind travelling. I'm sure they can help .

Hello there. Had planned to spend my morning weeding but OH asked me to mend a pair of shorts so I ended up sewing instead. This pm I had coffee in Les Sables with a sewing pal to discuss a joint project for a club banner for our cabin at the Forum in September.

Thence to the fabric shop. They have some quilted Indian fabric and I wanted to make a jacket with a matching plain jersey dress for autumn but the La Roche shop didn't have jerseys in the right shades. Sorted.

Now I'm home and having a cuppa after giving the chooks their daily sweetcorn and a liquid feed to all the roses and shrubs in my nursery. Seep hose now on in the polytunnel where we finally have tomatoes ripening nicely.

Can you find a local group doing chair pilates @Goldenlily26 or find a class online? It's supposed to be good for strengthening muscles whilst freeing up nerves and loosening ligaments to make joint movements easier. It may help you with your hips, knees and ankles.

          Have an enjoyable evening everyone.

Because rain stopped play today I carried on with knitting the baby jumper in Burnley's colours and I've finished the front and back. The pattern states its for a 0-3 month old but to me it looks titchy so I think I will suggest to my niece (Mum to be) that she puts it on a teddy.
Looking forward to Sewing Bee tonight so I will wish you all happy evenings and I'll see you tomorrow.

              Thanks @AuntyRach
We have all localised bases covered.
There are an awful lot of Staffie crosses and terriers, but I'm fussy.
I have my RSV jab tomorrow. Anybody had it?

Yes, @Penny_Forthem , I had the RSV jab a couple of months ago with no problems, not even a sore arm. Hope yours is ok. Pity about the long wait for a rescue dog but I'm sure he/she/they will arrive soon.

What a rigmarole @Goldenlily26, did the medics rule out strains and sprains as well. I'm a bit surprised you haven't been offered a CT scan as I believe that can disclose soft tissue damage?
Let's hope the physio can offer some help. I used to get a croaky throat when suffering from work related stress so yours could possibly be related to the stress you are currently experiencing. Not easy I know but try to relax - an occasional whisky and honey might help!

Sounds a really fascinating pub @Ladybird4, must ask OH if he knows of it.

A quilted jacket with matching jersey dress sounds ideal for the autumn months @Obelix-Vendée . I've been busy taking up the two dresses I bought on Sunday, hoping to wear one tomorrow if it's sunny as I'm meeting an old school friend for a joint birthday lunch -there's 3 weeks between us. One dress only needed an inch and a half taken off but the other needed 6 inches lopped off - there's no rhyme nor reason for the difference!

I spent a couple of hours at midday lopping a big winter flowering honeysuckle next to the terrace which unfortunately will be in the way of the builders next week. I left the harder work to OH to dig the stump out. He'll be so pleased!

                  Happy Wednesday.jpg
A very good morning one and all. I enjoyed Sewing Bee again last night and I am amazed at how clever and inventive this group of people are. It is such a happy programme to watch amidst all the dross and interminable repeats we pay our licence fees for. Looking through the window, it is really dark and stormy and while it isn't raining yet I'm sure it will be soon. I could be knitting again today.

                    Good morning all.

We've had a very smooth journey so far. Now at my daughter's near Poitiers. Home later today. I wonder what my garden is like.

We visited Kipling's home, Batemans, in East Sussex, with my sister. At least, we visited it and she walked her dog. She said she wasn't interested in looking at houses and gardens. We are very different. I'm more conventional and I like gardens, cooking, literature and classical music. She was a flower power hippie who went on marches for CND and rights for women. She helps at Glastonbury, looks after lost children she hates gardening, has lots of rescue animals and is very untidy. I told her we went to see Twelfth Night and she said she hates Shakespeare. We get on pretty well though.

We had dinner outside at daughter's last night. It was a lovely evening but thunderstorms are forecast for today.

OH had his RSV jab with no side effects. I don’t yet qualify for one.
I headed out into the garden yesterday, and filled one and a half green bins in a two hour stint. Very pleased with myself. Lots of brambles, bracken and ivy which had been blocking an entrance to our woodland. I was planning to pop out again and quickly prune a couple of bushes, but ran out of steam. Had to cook dinner in slow motion!
OH was awake in the night, and having a sleep in. Elderly granddog has been out to the garden and had her breakfast, and has gone back to bed. I am wondering whether to throw some clothes on and head out with the secateurs. The bin collectors haven’t been yet, and I could maybe snip a couple of buckets of greenery and pop them in before they arrive! However, I am still sitting up in bed and haven’t made a move yet! Grey and drizzly here this morning.
Hope all have a satisfactory day.

                        Good morning all.

Glad your journey has gone well so far, @Busy-Lizzie , and fingers crossed that your garden is looking OK. It's interesting how different siblings can be, and still get on well.

I've had to miss the first two "Sewing Bees", @Ladybird4 , because of the football. Having said that, last night's match (semi final, women's European cup, England v Italy) was quite exciting, even for me... and OH was transfixed. But I'm looking forward to catching up with the third "Bee" next Tuesday.

@Goldenlily26 - has anyone suggested Piriformis syndrome as a cause for your leg pain? When I had it, the pain was excruciating, radiating down my leg into my foot. A physiotherapist really helped though, with massage of the muscles involved, and lots of specific exercises. Hope you get some relief soon.

Knit & Natter this morning, so I'd better get moving... have a good day!

Good morning. I've been busy with admin jobs so far and then got OH to put suncreen on my back where I can't reach, ready for gardening, and now we're having a downpour. Suits me but I fear it will be short and sharp. The radar says the real rain clouds and storms are passing by just north of here so Possum's offices will be getting a good soaking at Dompierre-sur-Yon.

There doesn't seem to be any set length for fashion these days @lizzie27. My newest frock is almost down to my ankles tho it didn't look that long when cutting out or reading the pattern and I'm a good few inches taller than you.

Good luck with the dog hunt @Penny_Forthem. Have to say our two felines spend a lot more time close to us in the day now and the outside pussycat is another reason not to hurry to find a new dog. He usually comes at sunset and waits outside patiently for me to bring out a bowl of food and then swears at me before wolfing it down. Later on he sneaks inside and scoffs anything our pair have left.

Last night he was there by 9pm, curled up on the terrace so I fed him early and got a good luck. He has very sore looking eyes so now I need to catch him and vet him with some urgency. Just after we went to bed I heard him com ein thru the catflap and then an almighty kerfuffle on the landing upstairs where Minstrel took umbrage at his presence. Out he scarpered. Getting bold! Needless to say that if I do catch him our vet will probably be on hols and I'll have to go to La Roche.

Piriformis sounds painful @Liriodendron but I think is quite common judging by the number of ladies I know here who have similar undiagnosed pains. Sewing Bee is repeated on Sat pm at 16:15.

I was disappointed with Sewing Bee last night @Ladybird4 as I'd expected much better from one of the two that went out - made a classic fitting error despite being told to measure before cutting. I really dislike sportswear too and especially lycra so not an inspiring episode for me except for that linen outfit in the made to measure.

Hope your garden is OK @Busy-Lizzie. Our rain has stopped but we're now having thunder so maybe we'll get some more. I've left out the washing as encouragement. Certainly very dark and grey out there.

The RSPCA were totally non helping when I was looking for a dog. Because I have no fences and at the time no gates to my property, I was immediatelyt discounted.
Eventually, I found Robbie advertised privately, living locally, on Gumtree because his owner wanted to see who he was going to be rehome with.
Keep looking. As you say, when the right dog comes along it will happen. It took me 7 years of looking before Rob and I found each other and what a wonderful partnership it was.

OH was blue lighted to hospital last night. Just spoken to him. Had tests done and he's waiting to see a doc. All a bit frightening.

Well! The GP thinks I may have a trapped nerve causing the pain in my foot and leg. I have an appointment in 2 weeks time to see the physio. He has also asked me if I would be willing to try a heart monitor to observe my fluctuating pulse. No idea how long that will be. I think I will have to wear it non stop for 24 hrs.
When I spoke to the pharmasist she offered to have my missing meds. delivered to my house Friday morning.
The GP commented on my loss of voice. He thinks it could be laryngitis. No treatment, no talking. I am sure it is stress related as I have had no sore throat, cold symptoms etc.
I am going to see how the physio goes and will look into Pilates etc. Thanks for the suggestions. The yoga stretches I am doing each morning seem to help and I am going to go for another waddle down the lane today if the rain holds off. I have dusted the cobwebs off my crutches to use to begin with.

My ex. has been de feed tubed etc and put on palliative care with no further treatment. He has qualified for a month in a nursing home, if my son can find one able to take him. He is being fed and given drinks by mouth, sedated to keep him calm and my son says he looks very comfortable, tucked up amongst his pillows. He doesn't always recognise people but is still able to say No!, No!, No!, or Ow!, Ow!, Ow!. so his spirit is still strong. I guess time is of the essence now.
My son is having the skip collected and another brought in so he can break up the larger pieces of furniture to dispose of them. They found quite a few treasures in the loft, my wedding dress, bright orange velvet curtains I made for our first home, my doll's cot, my son's own pram and cot etc. etc. A lot of things were damaged by mould. It is difficult to get rid of any furniture today unless it has a fire retardent label on it and charity shops only want almost new items.
I did see on TV a man who drives around the country collecting furniture, he puts it in a van and takes it to war zones where he gives it away to anyone who needs it. Amazing. I have no idea if he is still doing it, very dangerous now for him if he is.
