I'm a complete novice when it comes to plants, so I’m hoping for some guidance from the more seasoned green thumbs out there. I’ve just received my long-awaited Black ZZ plant (Zamioculcas Zamiifolia Raven), a beauty I’ve been chasing for a couple of years, and I’m thrilled to finally have one.
The photos from the grower looked fantastic, but upon arrival, I noticed something odd. The pot has large lumps around the rim, and the plant itself seems to be bursting at the seams. To my untrained eye, it looks like the rhizomes have expanded so much they’ve distorted the pot.
Does this mean it’s time to repot? Or should I let it settle into its new environment before making any changes? Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

I think your going to have to cut that pot off.
I'd repot straight away, they are pretty tough plants in my experience.
      Nice plant.

I have the green variety and mine was like that when I bought it. It’s what they do :). I repotted mine as soon as I got it home, into a pot the next size up. They are tough plants and won’t need time to settle before you repot. Try to use a houseplant compost which is better than MPC.

I think you right, I will probably have to cut the pot to repot the plant.

This is actually my second ZZ plant. I’ve got a big, leafy green one already here to keep her company. She had a drink yesterday, and today she’s getting a well-deserved upgrade to a new bigger pot. Thanks again to my fellow plant lovers for the advice, really appreciate it.
