Really enjoyed this week's show with some absolutely beautiful gardens.

The birdsong in the garden that Advolly visited was glorious.

Loved Adam's delight in his peaches .

Just watching GW and that garden that Frances visited, it’s AMAZING.
I would give everything to visit it. What a beautiful garden. Just to my taste.

As a non-foody person I don't want to see the preparation of it on a gardening program. They don't show how to grow vegetables on a cookery program so why show how to cook them on a gardening one.
I couldn't watch that man making that horrible concoction last night, it turned on me, and when Adam stuck that peach into his mouth I had to switch it off ... couldn't stomach it, watching someone eat turns on me :frown:

Monty Don's TV career began with a programme called Fork to Fork didn't it? Grow organic veggies then cook them?

Must admit I don't really want cookery added to GW where enough precious time is wasted with lingering shots of MD pushing his barrow or Ned lolling about.

Only caught the latter half of GW last night but I thoroughly enjoyed what I did, both pace and content. Will catch the rest later when the sun's too high to be outside without doing a lobster impersonation.

I didn't know there was such a thing as AT Gardening club ,I won't be watching it as I'm not a fan but I do enjoy Montys GW even though sometimes we've heard it all before but gardeners are always learning .

I only got round to watching the previous week's programme on Thursday night. I'll be interested to see how those Acteas manage in that bed of Carol's if the Salvia's happy. Very odd combination as the former need consistently moist soil, and the Salvia like sharper drainage. Acteas don't do well in full sun either, unless they're really damp, but they will get sun/wind damage on the foliage. I also grow that Salvia, as it's the only really reliable one for where I am.

I know she'll get reasonable rainfall there, but not more than we get here, and nowadays that's a lot less than normal. Even in the ground, my Acteas have struggled a bit, where they would never usually be bothered in the past, and those ones are in a raised bed in compost . Mine are surrounded by shrubs and trees, but again - that's never been a problem until recent years. We just have a different problem with the changing climate in that respect.

I did wonder about those too @fairygirl as salvias do very well here but the one time I tried actea they curled up, even in the north facing bed where I grow very happy Japanese maples.

I've now watched this weel's programme and it was a delight, from start to finish with some fabulous gardens well presented and filmed and I've always liked Adam and his approach.

I also like Adam but have often wondered why he doesn't use a longer spade to avoid kneeling on the soil and getting his jeans dirty . I agree with you @Michael Hewett about that chef turned gardener - mixing that concoction with his bare hands, no thanks! Monty's tomato sauce the previous week looked good though. Fantastic gardens visited again, as all have been in this series.

That short handled spade is more like a long handled trowel to me @Plantminded and when I could still kneel I did all my planting down low with one of my 3 different sized trowels where a long handled spade wouldn't work. They're for digging bigger holes for trees and shrubs.

Yes, I’ve got one of those spades @Obelix-Vendée, but I don’t kneel to use it, too far to get back up . I think it’s called a perennial spade. I use a border spade and a larger digging spade for planting most things.

Is that that funny little spade he uses when he kneels down on the mud and then seems to drag the soil from the hole towards him.

                I'm guessing he don't do the washing.

That’s it @pete. That technique works well with sand castles .

No @Busy-Lizzie but he likes to do it to have more time watching golf on TV.
