The troughs are still on offer! They haven't reduced them at all, and I noticed this morning that they are watering the whole shelf so you would be carrying home a trough of sopping wet compost for £1.50. It's mad really - they will all end up in landfill. If they reduced them to say 30p I'm sure people would buy them, as they'd look nice planted up with mini daffs in the spring.

I was also laughing at their veg plant offerings. They still have young tomato plants on offer in 4 inch pots. Some of the pots are just empty compost, some have a green leafless stump. Even the best of them are sorry specimens that you wouldn't consider even if there was time left in the season. And they are priced at 94p each!

Our Poundland is closing, I grabbed a metal garden arch for £1.75 for future inspiration. It will go over the path once the path is done (possibly this winter), I'll get some sturdy poles to reinforce it.

So sad to see the shop closing, I dislike Poundland but it did offer jobs for the people who lost them when the Wilko there closed. :frown:

I have finally decided to try a Clematis. They are not often found here so I have ordered one from a specialist company in Germany. Does anyone have or know of this one ...

      Multi Blue ....

I used to have Multi Blue @Victoria but it disappeared a couple of years ago. The flowers were sometimes single instead of double which was a bit disappointing, but the colour was lovely.

Bought this Pennisetum "Hameln" from Lidl today, £6.99. They had some smaller ones too.

I never knew they were grassy. Cute little Fucshia. I had one like that in Bucks but too hot here for them.

The fuchsia is "Patio Princess". Not a hardy one, but it has survived outside for two winters now in a pot. I always put it in a spot sheltered from frost.

Many perennials are a good buy at this time of year for that same reason @CarolineL . They're bursting out their pots!
The nursery I use, especially for any new, empty garden like this one was, always had a sale through September too, so it was an even better bargain!
Not good for the bank balance though

I got two Salvia microphyllas today (I am assuming they are both the same colour) to plant in the big ot on its side on the Raised Patio. I tried Dahlias for the first time and it was a total failure,

Probably too hot for dahlias, they tend to like warm and humid with lots of water.

Yes, but I thought I'd just give it a go ... in the hottest Summer we have ever had! :loll:

It's not been a good year for Dahlias in general wherever you grew them, so don't be put off.
