Mine was also from Noisette47 I've grown it outside, I thought it was dead but I noticed it a while back about 15ft into a tree in my wild garden.
It's not particularly showy in my opinion

I think I'll grow it indoors and if it looks like it, take a cutting for outdoors summer fun. Apparently it sprouts from root even when the frosts kill the top.

    Interesting :)

Yes, the same for me, hard to grow in beds. When we moved in, my mum bought me loads of bulbs, but even the first year wasn't very successful. I have a clay soil in the garden. By the year 2 all bulbs rotted. Will try at least to get them flowering in the spring. And at least I can again use bulbs baskets, and get rid of some sand and grit stock.

Tulips and others are from lidl, £2 any package. They had large flowered tulips too. But it's weird not all shops stock the same bulbs. One another lidl had completely different "boring" bulbs selection from another range.

Took myself off to a plantsale in the wilds of Cornwall. Came back with half a dozen plants that I now need to find homes for. Got Hydrangea serrata "Shojo", Strobilanthes mastersii supposed to be hardy and has interesting foliage, Dionaea muscipula "Akai Ryu, Kniphofia pauciflora, Dahlia australis x tenuicaulis should be hardy in my plot and Dahlia purpusii which has hydrangea like foliage and might be hardy here "take a cutting and try it outside next year" was the comment.

All clay here @Alisa , but it's all been improved in the 12 years I've been here with manure and compost. I still don't put many bulbs in the beds/borders because even tougher types [many of the daffs/narcissus] just rot. Snowdrops are fine!
I've lost all the daffs my sister gave me for my 60th birthday, which was 8 years ago. They were a variety which includes my name [unusual spelling] as they're named after a famous actress of my Mum's era. I feel bad about it. I think there's still one or two in the bed beside my extension which is drier due to all the shrubs there, so I might try and get them out in spring - if they're still there. Even in pots [which she also gave me] one pot succumbed because it was in a more open site, while the one under the eaves was fine.
Lots of these shops can be handy if you're on a budget and aren't after a particular product. I often used them in the past, especially when my girls were young and we had no money!

It's hard to resist isn't it @NigelJ . I was quite proud of myself at the nursery last week - only buying the clematis I went for! You always have so many unusual plants - hope that cutting works for you too :blue thumb:

I've bought several new cacti recently but never showed photos of them, but here's the latest one ...
I am told it is called Neoporteria senilis :-

            127_7013.JPG

            And also this ...
            Anacampseros 'Sunrise'
It's tiny, and should be more colourful but was kept in a shady greenhouse.

I'm glad I'm not the only guilty party @NigelJ and @Michael Hewett !
At Aberglasney on Saturday I finally got a Tetrapanax at a sensible price - £7 for a pup from one of theirs. Also some orchids from the orchid show - some intermediate growing ones for the house and a serapias for garden (when it's big enough).

For some reason Tetrapanax have never appealed to me, the closest I have is Aralia foliolosa which has grown like the proverbial bean stalk. Earlier this the growing point got damaged, turned black and fell out; now has two growing points and still put on the best part of a metre this year.
Meanwhile I've been looking around the garden and wondering where I can put the recent purchases. I think that some of the beds will have to combined by removing the grass between them.

That's the great thing about gardening @NigelJ - we like different things - and what we like changes too. I used to be very keen on variegated plants. Now not so much. I plan on sorting garden area down by stream and planting it there - I haven't got room for a gunnera!

I hadn't bought a plant in months. Today I finally gave into my urges and bought this beautiful acer "moonrise", which was half price at B&Q, so it ended up costing just £11.

I have failed with acers twice in the past, so I will do more research this time and hope that it is third time lucky

Hope the Acer does well for you this time @CostasK . If you keep it potted, don't put it into too big a pot each time when you move it on. That was a good price :blue thumb:
After mentioning those daffs my sister gave me, I succumbed and bought some replacements. They aren't common, but I eventually found a supplier, so I hope they're reliable! The delivery charge is as dear as the bulbs :mute:
Well, I don't drink or smoke, I don't go out and eat expensive meals, I don't go on holiday, and it's my birthday in a month's time, so .....
