I buy my glyphosate concentrate in 5 litre containers, from a local farm shop, and mix it in a 10 litre sprayer, I have a small hand spray but never remember to use it. Doh!

Morrison's heavily reduced their gardening stock so lots of compost at £2.50, provanto bug killer at £1.25 and slug pellets were bought.

Going to sow my salads for the greenhouse today, mainly mustards as they seem to grow the best

Finished weeding the borders and trimming the grass edge, started along the path now ready for the wallflowers.

I’m not too far from you @fairygirl and had an amazing encounter with a butterfly in today’s sunshine! I was reading nonsense on my phone, so was quickly able to switch to camera and get lots of photos and a video.

Was really surprised at how long it was happy to sit on my finger, even as I moved about slightly.

It's lovely when anything like that decides you aren't dangerous isn't it @KathM ! Gorgeous photos :)
I've often had shield bugs or similar [moths sometimes] resting for a while, and recently I've had to 'bee and wasp wrangle' several times because they got inside the plastic growhouse I got for the extra tomatoes, and then got stuck. It can be tricky getting hold of them, but they don't bother me at all, and the bees are often quite happy to sit for little while till they recover and fly off. I got a little silver Y moth one day too.
Yesterday was certainly lovely here after the early rain went off. I got plenty done after my walk, including the bits for my toadstools. It was threatening rain later, so I made sure they were covered, which was just as well as there was a real downpour in the evening for half an hour. Will see how they look today, and get it in it's site if possible. Got the other section of edging sorted too, so should get that in today, and will attach some trim along the top too, to finish it off.
That last section was more complicated than suggested, as I had to swap the bit of timber I had prepped, with a section on one back gate post, as it was more suitable for there. Long story with that, but I'm happier with the back gate now. I'm going to get some metal post caps for those posts as well.
I'll give the toms a final feed today as I have some comfrey feed left in an opened bottle. The dahlias can get some too. I might even sit down for a while and watch the birds - they were very entertaining yesterday when I sat on the bench with a cuppa.

I cut both my lawns yesterday after the recent rain had revived them. I had to wait for a rain shower to pass before I could trim the edges - it would have been unnerving to leave this until another day . I gave another large Phormium a tidy up and raked a lot of the bark on my sloping borders back into place. It had been shifted into slaloms and chutes by birds seeking out worms while the lawn was too hard to drill .

Cut down the tomato plants and picked the rest of the tomatoes, some green and red ones, put them in a container to ripen in the conservatory.

I got my toadstool pieces in place, but I'll have to wait for some suitable weather to do the finishing bit - mortaring all the pieces together and covering joins to get the finished look. I also got a good bit of the front edging done, but I have one more piece of the trim to cut and paint for the hydrangea section. I can do that inside, but I'll have to see if I have time to attach it before the heavy rain later today. I forgot I needed to redo the kick bolt on the back gate too, so I did that- in between the showers. Took longer than it should - why is there always one screw that decides it's not coming out....
Today will be weather dependant. Once I've had my walk etc, I'll see what time there is before that rain. It's to be windy again too, but that won't be a problem.
I forgot that actually I got some pix of the red admiral a couple of days ago @KathM, so I'll stick them on the other thread for flying 'stuff'.

I spent time in the greenhouse yesterday, potted on some dahlias I bought at the weekend. Sowed some seed I received recently Tulipa sprengeri and Aconitum napellus Alba.
                Watered as required.

I must be accidentally hitting something that makes that line through text. No idea!
I did quite a bit yesterday until the rain come at full strength mid afternoon - and didn't stop. It was very windy too, but it was fine for what I was doing, and stopped me getting too hot. Toadstool sorted out, then covered so that it didn't get wet, and edging in front garden done. I'll need some mortar to do the final covering on the toadstool.
Today is pretty hideous weather wise too - windy again, and so far, there isn't a lot of 'dry' between what they like to call 'showers', so nothing will really get done outside. I think waterproofs will be needed for the walk too.
Maybe a bit more painting and faffing in the shed- there's a few cuttings that might need potted on, and a lot of tea drinking...

Last year i dismantled a rickety old greenhouse i acquired when we moved in several years ago. I left the bones of the structure intact so the uprights and bottom side panels stayed put but the door , roof etc all were disposed of. My plan was to use this as a 3 sided walk-in cut flower bed and i thought i would try an assortment of dahlias. I feel its been something of a success albeit that some of the dahlias have grown taller than expected and others shorter than expected so i need to lay them out differently next year but the photos show what i have cut this morning and there is still plenty of colour outside , plus the plants are doing a great job of masking my compost area.

I cut the grass and picked up the fallen apples putting the grass cuttings in the compost bin.

I'm gradually tidying up and re-arranging all the 'stuff' that had been moved from the front and side terraces whilst the re-building work was being done. Thankfully that's all been finished (apart from one small job involving yet another cracked wall which the builder will come back and do in a couple of weeks). My small sentry shed's shelves need reinforcing as well but we've had frequent very hard showers so they've had to be wait. Maybe tomorrow.

Great idea @Robert Bowen , and great Dahlias too! :)
It would be interesting to see some photos of the structure you left in and hear your thoughts on how it has done its job this year.
