@waterbut I have 2 already planted in a bed between a nectarine and 2 peaches. This one has gone into the bed round the edge of our veg plot, near the pear trees. I shall take more cuttings and grow a wee hedge for a winter windbreak for the chooks which wander about in there.
There's a grass path in front so any misbehaving will just get mown.

@shiney Have you considered a polytunnel? Ours is 8m x 4m and has a door at each end and a net to throw over for summer shading. Cost about 1000€ 8 years ago and I have a potting bench, IKEA metal storage shelves with their own polythene cover for seed trays and cuttings and a couple of old table as work benches. Easy to build too.

Good morning everyone, sunny here, hope weather good for you all and hope it's a good gardening day for everyone. l over did it yesterday but l can get my garden journal out and do some garden planning. Our greenhouse is in a really mess inside as this yr we just used it to store pots etc. it needs everything out, glass all cleaned down and the broken stand taken out. i'm trying to see how l can re-arrange it to see if could fit a small fold up seat in there nk to to a seed sowing table..would make my life so much easier. Does anyone have any greenhouse organise tips ?

@Obelix-Vendée My aunt lives near Saintes and she is a fan of Pineau , especially of the DIY type although she has not made any. When we have visited she has opened the odd bottle and it is very palatable. It certainly sounds a delicious pork dish !! Did you accept the bottle of calva that you were offered?

Yes @Robert Bowen but not for personal drinking. OH and I not really keen on spirits. I used it all up in mulled cider for plant swap day which is in November so a warm drink is appreciated tho I can't do mulled wine at midday when we have our picnic lunch before the swap.

One of my sewing club ladies has a husband who makes Pineau in large quantities and I give him our empty wine bottles as our favourite summer rosé comes in screw tops. He gives me a full bottle in exchange. Good deal.

No problem @fairygirl . Has “Bob” turned up? A couple of years back a pigeon regularly visited but it had a problem with one leg so i dubbed it “ Limping Larry” but in late summer when all those courting shenanigans were going on i had to rename her “ Limping Lisa” .
Anyhow i have had a very busy weekend. Last autumn , cutting a long story short , i scrapped the storage shelving area in the garage store. I was intent on tarting it up but when i started i could see it was even worse than i thought so it went in the skip. Since then i have had stuff everywhere and on times the garage store has looked like Steptoe’s yard and finding stuff has been a complete b#gg*$ , such as trying to find a bradawl in a haystack. Still , this weekend , i have set to work ( i know you will approve @fairygirl) with 4 pallets a stack of reclaimed wood and fixings from other projects and finally finished early evening yesterday. I have still got shelf space and my shed and potting shed have much more space once more. I am happy with the result and i have made it to suit my needs . Trouble is its given me ideas to enhance other areas as i still have some very good sound timbers to play with , but , my body has told me that will have to wait and is something for the winter months. Recovery day today , frankly i need it .

@Peaceful Gardener Trouble with putting a seat in is the impact it has on the available workspace in the greenhouse , unless you have a large one eg 16’x10’ even a folding seat takes up a fair working circle . Now if you have staging that would accomodate a stool beneath when its not in use that might prove a useful idea.

@Obelix-Vendée Thanks for the idea but our greenhouse it situated fairly close to our back door with flower beds and paving around it and our main patio running from there so not really conducive for siting a polytunnel. :noidea:

Started planting the wallflowers and watered some of the polyanthus, the ground is still dry 3 inches down, needs a lot more rain.

many thanks for reply...yes, l think you are right. I'm going to try that idea in Spring when l do loads of sowing. As l had to rest all day today, ( as over done it yesterday :( iv been making a seed sowing plan. We only have a small greenhouse ( not sure size, will have to measure) but l think we could get 20x large containers in there. We usually stack them up to store in there over Winter, so l thought we could try growing something in them, We are slowly emptying the soil (from summer patio salads )into the two 4ftx4ft garden raised beds, that has the 'wheeler cabbages' going in. l want to experiment to see what we can grow in the cold greenhouse over Autumn /Winter. l plan on sowing all the old out- of -date seeds iv found , that says on pk can be sown Sept . Then if any germinate , even if only a few of each, l want to plant one of each into the greenhouse large containers, just to see what happens. lv made a seed list to order some fresh seeds of meteor dwarf early peas, artic king lettuce and lamb lettuce ' favor' which they say are all winter hardy. l can still sow the seeds outside sitting down on garden bench, like l usually do, and then place seed pots on top of the large fresh filled containers in greenhouse. We will cover in bubble wrap till hopefully some germinate, then just transplant l of each variety. Not sure if will work, as never sown/grown anything over Autumn or Winter before. but l like a challenge/experiment :)

@Peaceful Gardener When you go in through the greenhouse door are you going to plant on all 3 sides or just one side and the end? It can get a bit jungle like with things like tomatoes or cucumbers , its having the space to get at everything thats important and its easy to underestimate how vigorous plants can be.

Mrs B asked me to get a mixture of herbs to stuff a chicken earlier. When i brought them in she asked what i had picked and on checking i had parsley , sage , rosemary and thyme. Now i cant get the song out of my head.

The plan is to have a double row of containers around the three sides with a space in middle by the door to be able to go in and check on the plants. Husband is taking everything out to deep clean the greenhouse over the nk fews days, then we will have a better idea how many containers will fit in there. l watched a youtuber today who grows in his greenhouse over winter and he says plants in containers in a greenhouse will not be as insulated as much as plants that are in beds in greenhouse, so l'm not sure my idea will work , but still going to give it ago. l did managed to grow salad herbs all through Winter of last year in the greenhouse, that we harvested each weekend for Sunday tea. l had them covered in layers of bubble wrap, so i'm hopeful these dwarf veg i'm trying will work too
