After patching the tube I just finished seating a wheelbarrow tyre. I've done it a few times now over two decades and every time it is an ordeal. This time I tried my luck with some washing up liquid. It helped with the initial part, but made more difficult seating the final bit of tyre edge. In the end I resorted to standing astride on the tyre, one foot each side where it was already seated, pressing towards the unseated part, and finally lifting the final bit using a spanner. It was a fairly violent process. In the past I've managed to re-puncture the tube with a similar improvised bit of wrenching, but I think I got away with it this time. Anyone knows an easier way?

I cant remember now how, but I saw something on youtube and they did it with a length of string I think.
I've done it a few times as well and getting that last bit on can be tricky.

I always use a set of tyre levers. More useful on narrow racing bike tyres, but do work on wheelbarrow ones.

I think that bloke in the video really needed a thinner piece of cord, it was so thick on a thin tyre it made it hard work.

I've never had tyre levers, a couple if screwdivers is the best I can do.

I struggled with tyre levers, think that's how I punctured the tube at one time. The rim/tyre combination is very tight and the tyre not so stretchy. Will try the rope next time, probably combined with fairy liquid.

Maybe washing line is worth a try, not so much friction. Although the thicker cord could be more effective in pressing down and squeezing in the tyre.
