Hello all. So sorry to hear of bruises and other discomforts; I guess most of us are getting to "that age" when we have to stop rushing around without looking at where our feet are going!

I'm slow off the mark this morning, having got back from the interminable recording session at 11.30 last night. Hope it sounds all right and we don't need another session. And speaking of people not looking where they're putting their feet, I had to rapidly disentangle OH from a microphone cable last night, before he and the expensive equipment landed in a heap at the bottom of the steps in the church where the recording was taking place.

This morning's jobs included making a stew, so there's plenty of food in the freezer for OH, for when I'm away in Scotland. (I'm leaving on Thursday.) But also, there was the little matter of working out the market value of our house, to establish how much Local Property Tax we'll owe for the next 5 years. (It's the equivalent of Council Tax in the UK, but costs very considerably less - though it doesn't cover rubbish collection, which we have to pay for individually, based on how much waste the household generates.) I think the improvements we've made to the property will have taken us into a higher band than previously, but we'll still be paying less than €400 per year so we've nothing to complain about. It covers water rate too...

We cut the grass yesterday, probably a good thing because it looks like rain. Must get out the ladder and check the gutters before I leave, though - OH isn't good up a ladder.

Thank you @Blue arbour and @Obelix-Vendée. The X-ray clinic is brand new, opened this month, modern equipment. The mammogram was much better than before, didn't hurt, just a bit of pressure. All was fine. They gave me the X-rays and the report before I left and they sent the results online for me to download.

I agree with you @Goldenlily26 about TV presenters. Nina who presents the lunchtime BBC News wears incredibly high heels and she stands in a weird way and often changes the position of her feet. I wonder how her feet will be when she's my age?

I'm trying to get the house and garden ready to leave too @Liriodendron. We are leaving on Friday, weekend with Son 1 near Auxerre, ferry to England on Tuesday. Staying with friends in Kent then to Norfolk on Thursday then Corfu for a week on the 14th.

That’s sounds like a nightmare, @Hanglow! Can this only happen if you have banking or credit card details on your phone? Thank heavens you noticed what was going on.
Sounds like you needed to rest a bit longer, @Goldenlily26, and definitely no high heels! I don’t watch any of the news and current affairs programmes, but I used to really notice the effect of high heels on tv programmes. Im sure the wife in ‘The Good Wife’ was restricted to only a few steps in each shot, her calf muscles were always really scrunched up, and she never walked too far or too fast! Very duck footed! Bet she kicked them off at frequent intervals!
I woke in the night with excruciating pain in my wrist, really struggled to get a position where it didn’t hurt. Ended up at 3am self diagnosing using the internet! Pretty sure it’s tendinitis, the diagnostic test was positive. I’m suspecting manhandling my iPad, I moved my bedside table a couple of nights ago and it’s possibly more awkward. I found some elastic bandage in the first aid cupboard, and rigged up a makeshift splint. Worked very well, we went out to the seaside to enjoy the sunshine ( saw a seal swimming nearby) as I didn’t think I’d get my days planned gardening done. However, when we got home, we managed to fill the green bins for the morning! OH pruned the overgrown bay tree, and I shredded the bits one handed! Very satisfied!

Had a good massage this morning - sorely needed after a few days of gardening. Lots of traffic queueing to get in and out of the local hospital so I was nearly late.

Fortunately or not as the case may be, I'm too old for mammograms now thank goodness as I found them excruciating although I think the newer machines are now height adjustable and have plastic plate coverings rather than very cold metal ones. I believe I can ask for an appointment if I felt the need.

I did more gardening but only small jobs after a light lunch then took a cuppa out to sit in my Egg chair whilst it was still warm. OH joined me and we just sat and chatted - very relaxing.
Pleased the washing dried in the sunshine as well, not too many days left like today to enjoy.

Good evening all. Got a few jobs in and around the garden done but still plenty to get stuck into tomorrow. My green bin is looking healthily full. I got my driving licence renewal application form in the post today. I decided that, like last time, I would renew it online which meant I had to find my passport, my national insurance number and my driving licence number. I am glad I have a filing cabinet in my office with all the necessary requirements but a good friend said that to save me having to drag my 'tired from gardening' body upstairs to retrieve this information I should write it down in the front of my diary. I think that is a good idea from now on. I hate having to cut my old licence in half to return it to Swansea though.
Glad the mammogram went well @Busy-Lizzie - I am similar to @lizzie27 in that I'm too old now therefore we are invincible! :) Goodness me but you are hardly back in the UK for long before you are jetting off to Corfu. That should be a nice week for you.
Sorry to hear about the tendonitis @Ergates. My arthritic right thumb can have the same effect on me as your painful wrist in that the pain in that digit sometimes wakes me up in the middle of the night. The joys of getting older!
I am signing out now and going to read. There is nothing I want to watch on TV tonight. I'll see you all tomorrow morning. Enjoy your last few hours of September!

@Ladybird4, I didn't bother to send my old driving licence back to Swansea, just asking for it to be swiped by somebody IMO. I just cut it in half and put it in the bin. Nobody's chased me for it yet!

Good morning everyone. A pinch and a punch for the first of the month and no returns. White rabbits! Its 11°C and raining outside so already my gardening plans have been thwarted. It might improve later on though.

                  Good morning to you all!

My big sister's birthday today - well; nearly over, NZ being 10 hours ahead of France. Happy enough with a nice meal and lots of messages from the family.

Our weather has warmed up. It has been in the mid/late 20s in the afternoon. Nights are chilly.

I have had a UTI and feeling a bit under the weather but drinking lots of water and cranberry juice and kefir. The cramps have gone, but I had made an appointment with my dr after the weekend in case. I kept it and she prescribed a sample (done) and Canephron to see if we can get rid of the full bladder sensation whilst waiting for the results.

Visit to my hip surgeon about the hip pain after an ultrasound. Tendonitis/bursitis evident. Anti-inflammatories and cataplasmes - another ultrasound in 6 months. Cortisone injections and failing that - an operation to snip the tendon.

On a lighter note....is there one? It seems your weather is dismal in the UK and lecckie bills are going up. Our govt is not much better than yours - a pretty hard job I wouldn't like to take on.

Corfu at this time of year will be lovely @Busy-Lizzie Still hot but with the longer nights, it should cool the ground. A lovely break.

Commiserations to everyone with bruises - no! we don't bounce anymore @lizzie27 and as my middle name is "clumsy" I do tend to knock and bang around the house!!

So welcome October! I hope it is better than September!! Enjoy the day!

Good morning @Tui34. You have my full sympathy being under the weather with a UTI. There are certain ailments that can make you feel twice as miserable than others. UTI being one and I include ear and toothache too. Watching a super clip on the Beeb about a 'Doggy Dip Day' where once a year an open air swimming pool allows humans - accompanied by their doggy pals - to enjoy a joint swimming session. It looked like huge fun!

I had a very quiet non day. I caught up with my emails and wrote a couple of letters. That was it until the weather forecast at 6.30pm when a weathergirl put on a lovely show of foot hopping whilst giving the forecast. Sophie Rayworth gave a lovely demonstration of how to wear lower high heels and not need to hop!
How scary to catch someone trying to break into your sim card. There are so many scams on the go now, good for the BBC reporter who was approached by a group. It must have been tempting not to have to work again. I hope the BBC gave him a decent Golden Handshake for saving them millions of pounds.

I spent some time sorting out my summer wardrobe, throwing out some disreputable gardening gear, and putting the rest in a suitcase for next year. I also sorted out my autumn/winter clothes, ready for the incoming change in weather When my new smaller trousers arrive I am set for the rest of the year. I have put myself on a few days of Co-codamol to ease the pain in my ribs, it seems much better today but I am still taking it easy as I want to go to club on Thursday, now that I have started playing again I want to keep it up.
I have not been able to wear high heels since I broke my ankle 30 years ago, more recently I have lived in trainers with arch supports. Thank goodness for the current fashion of trainers with everything. I think it looks odd but that is fashion. Comfort as well.
I am also too old for mammograms. I used to hate them but was grateful when they found something that needed checking. It turned out to be nothing more than fatty tissue. I was kept on the screening list for an extra 5 years, just to make sure.
You all sound so busy with your visits and travels. I hope the weather holds for all of you. There is a definite change in atmosphere now the children are back at school, not long until half term when things will go mad again. I can at least find a space in car parks now.
Enjoy your travels and I hope all casualties are making steady progress.

Late on parade today, as i slept till gone 9.30. OH let the dogs out at about 7, then I slept on!
We have arranged for the dog trainer to come on Sunday. As I'm sure @Ladybird4 can testify, he's just such a sweet natured lump, but very stubborn and we need to overcome that with patience and kindness.
@Tui34 commiserations on your UTI. Misery.
Likewise @Ergates on your wrist and all who have aches and pains.
Chiropodist for me today. Third time lucky, I hope.

11am, Ive had my breakfast, but still reading in bed. I slept through until 9am, must have been worn out by yesterday’s efforts on the green bins. This afternoon, we are off to the vaccination centre for our flu jabs, and OH will have a Covid one as well. As long as we feel ok, we won’t be far from town, so will pop into the DIY stores for some bits.
I’ve popped the bandage back on my wrist this morning. Feels better with it on, but not up to making pancakes, which I rather fancied!
Hope the UTI responds quickly to treatment, @Tui34, they really are miserable.
Not long ago, I had to have a course of antibiotics. About a week later, I had a bout of thrush, obviously connected as I hadn’t suffered from that for years. Annoyingly, I was unable to buy the remedy from the pharmacy, as I am now deemed ‘too old’. Rather than have to wait who knows how long to get an appointment to see a nurse at the surgery, I decided to buy it in the supermarket and if challenged, say it was for my daughter! However, as I used the self service zapper till, no one checked. Problem solved in two days! Phew!

We both slept later as well, I think it's the slightly darker mornings. Had our usual walk, back home for a quick coffee then drove up to Argos to collect a new microwave, ours broke down yesterday which was annoying. I only use it for cooking veggies like peas, baked beans, chopped mixed veg and the quick packet rice but sometimes to defrost bread or fish if I'm in a hurry. We've bought a really cheap one with manual controls and it will be interesting to see how long it lasts compared to our last more 'fancy' one.

It's now apparently 18c outside so more gardening beckons as soon as my lunch has settled.

Yesterday we found the remains of a dead pigeon on the lawn, lots of feathers but also an unexpected surprise in the form of small chewed blue plastic bits which we presume the pigeon had eaten, poor thing.

I don't understand how somebody can 'break' into a Sim card, surely if it's inserted into your phone, nobody can get at it? The phone can be hacked of course but what has that to do with a Sim card? Or am I missing the point?

Hope all those with injuries or afflictions feel better soon.
