I do too! Not produce in my case, but flowers. It seems sad to just let plants die, after having flowered for months and months. Gardening is one part joy to two parts guilt and three parts frustration. :) And yet we persist, season after season.

Sorted out non functioning auto opener in greenhouse. Sowed Lilium henryi seed collected earlier from garden an awful lots of seeds in a capsule. Planted chitted broadbean seed into root trainers to reach a more slug resistant size.
Checked Amorphophallus tubers these are a very good size, these really need a hot summer to thrive, the tubers were planted into large pots and have now filled them to the extent that the pots are bulging.

Should of said housing association not council, the land is in with my deeds / land register and I do have pictures years ago from years ago I've lived here my entire life. I have mentioned it to some of neighbours not that I need to tell them anyway, just some of them fly up like they are on a race track and turn round there, they used to back into it now and again but hopefully with parking sensors and cameras that's a thing of the past.

Regarding planning permission any wall / fence next to a highway / public foot can't exceed 1m tall without permission , this wall although looks really big on the photo is 90cm / 3ft high . Got to be careful with planning permission its a bit vague but on the 1m height is nationwide from my understanding unless other circumstances are met :rolleyespink:

I cut back the roses in the bed (15' x 3') alongside the greenhouse as it is very thorny and they will need to be out of the way for the installers of the new greenhouse. Then I went down the garden to pick apples. I picked 30lb before the freezing wind stopped me even though I was wrapped up warmly.

Lovely sunshine this morning and after watching Gardeners World, I went into the garden. Originally I thought I take some of my compost to top up the beds. But seeing the poor stage of the vegtrug liner, maltreated by the fox, I decided to empty the trug and use the soil for the beds.
I moved 3 cerinthe from the bed into the wildflower bed.
I took out both Campanula plants which never developed good in my dry clay soil. Instead, I will plant there Helenium and Echinacea plants that are growing well in the greenhouse.
I repositioned the Hebe away from the Polonium, which grew too close.
I also repositioned the Hardy Gerenium from the new Deutzia to my old bed, and took the Bleeding Heart from my old bed to the Deutzia instead. Reason was that the Hardy Geranium didn’t like the position where it was - too sunny ? - and the Bleeding Heart from my old bed never developed as it should - not enough space ?
I hope both will like their new place.
Finally, I collected all leaves from the gravel and mixed them with the compost.
I have some soil in the Vegtrug and will use it over winter when the Hardy Gereniums are cut back in my old bed.

Gave my three patio cats a good scrubbing before putting them in a frost free place (greenhouse). One smelt a bit kitty - I think a real cat must have sprayed on it. So it got a dose of Zoflora too.

                        20251025_145349.jpg

Also depodded some runner bean seeds that had been drying out. Then put more flowers seeds that I had collected and dried into storage jars. I had a very fragrant white nicotiana, that I did not sow, grow into a large bush and it's still flowering now. So I have saved some of those seeds.

Raked leaves off the lawn. We have had no green collection at all this year as the bin men are on strike so we have a disposal problem. They are bagged up at the moment. We had a flyer through the door from a firm offering a green collection service. I thought this is ideal. It's a limited company so I looked it up at Companies House only to find it has been in liquidation since the summer. I did read that liquidators can allow insolvent companies to trade so that some debts can be repaid. But I don't think I'd want to pay by card in advance. Cash on collection ok. They want £12 for your council wheelie to be emptied or £3 per bag.

I also have my poinsettia from last Christmas, which has grown to a fairly big plant. It has sat on the patio in the shade all summer until yesterday, when I put it in the greenhouse . Some of the newer leaves are starting to change colour. It was a vibrant pink last year so we'll see what I can get it to do. I'm surprised it didn't drop any leaves at all. It must be a slightly different variety. More like a shrub! Not got a pot big enough either.

They are lovely. Do they have names?

Your Poincettia is very healthy. Mine hasn't started colouring yet.

Got to the Allotments, finally cut down the outdoor tomatoes
I should have done it a few weeks ago they were black with blight.
Also cleared some old cauliflower stumps, they did very well thid year but I think the green calibrese are better value. I'm still getting secondary shoots from them a couple (Marathon) have been cropping since April. I harvested the last few dwarf FB and more rocket.
I too need to clear the greenhose to make way for the winrer salad.

Harvested some huge carrots from one of the veg patches. First time in years that we have had a crop of carrots outdoors. Don't know why but the seeds wouldn't germinate so we sowed in the polytunnel. So good though to finally have a great crop and so many.

Their names are "upright", "hovercrafting" and "curled up"! The latter has lost part of its ear. I should give them proper names! I would like more (or even a real one!). Our local mini garden centre sometimes has them, but they tend to have dogs more than cats.

I presume you don't need to bring your poinsettia indoors at all and maybe it's planted in the ground? Mine has just gone into the greenhouse, but it was quite happy outside in the rain at temps down to 5c. Eventually it will go indoors if I can find space. It might fit in the fireplace again.
