@Escarpment now you have got rid of the Goji berry, how about a Chilean guava (Ugni molinae) to replace it, not rampant, forms an attractive shrub. Mine is evergreen and fruits well, berries are tasty and will add something a bit different to an apple crumble or your morning cereal.
Just check on hardiness before getting one.

Nice idea, but maybe for a different spot in the garden. I reckon I've got space for a small tree where the goji was, so I'm thinking about a blue tit plum on pixy stock, or a compact apricot.

I cut down the Zinnias today and found they were hiding a surprise.

Thank you @Selleri I don't know about Escarpment, but I may well get a Mexican Mountain Guava next spring: no idea where it will go, but can always lose a bit more grass.

Not in the garden as raining too heavily. Not having a plum harvest this year (don't know why as both trees flowered brilliantly in the Spring and no frosts) I was pleased to buy a kilo of "ready to eat" plums reduced from £3 to 99p. But they weren't ready to eat at all so this morning I have stoned them and sliced them and bottled them for eating later.

I managed to get out to plant all 3 roses before it started raining - just.

Fingers crossed they like their new bed grow well. I've got a Blue for You on the left, two pink GJ's in the middle and a white Desdemona in a large pot on the right. I didn't have space for 5 roses unfortunately which might look better but I don't suppose anybody will notice but me.

Took down the hanging baskets and gave them a trim before putting them in the small lean to greenhouse, first i took some more cuttings of the trailing geraniums.

Did nothing outside because of incessant rain, but just dashed to greenhouse to check things, and found that mice had been disturbing seedlings of acacia that I'd pricked out recently. So put all into a tray with perspex cover. If it continues, the traps and peanut butter will have to be used!

Finally got OH away from watching or playing golf so he could dig over the bare bits in my new rose bed and remove large stones and bits of terracotta roof tiles. That meant I could start on planting my spring bulbs and some perennials to fill the spaces. Rain stopped play at about 4:30 but that's OK. Hope to finish on Wednesday as I'm busy elsewhere for the next 2 days.

Currently Morrisons are selling a kilo of Spanish plums for £2, full price. I bought them expecting to use them for stewing but they turned out to be nice enough to eat raw, and they have really tiny stones.

Nothing much happening here due to weather, and today's wet and foggy, so I don't know whether I can trust the 'guessers' that it is going to clear up later on. Not much to see to that can't wait anyway.
It cleared up yesterday, eventually, but I had to go out for carrots to finish my soup, so I combined that with my walk, and it was beginning to get dark when I got back, so I only did the bird feeders and some deadheading for ten minutes.

It's dry and sunny here at the moment, a perfect start for the fencers who arrived just after 8.00am. After a quick run through of what's to be done, I've left them to it. I've used this company before and was happy with their work, so I'm not too worried. Rain is due late morning but I hope they'll be finished by then and it will wash the steps and paving down before I get the pressure washer out later .

                            Hi,

I've just returned from Morrison's and am apalled by their two tier pricing; Cadbury's Roses tubs; £7 to me; £4.50 for those with a "More" card.

It's a beautiful sunny morning so far; the car was displaying 9C but it feels much warmer; overnight heavy rain again so everything outside is well watered.

                            Kind regards, Col.

@Retired it's a pain having all these cards, but they're free, and makes a huge difference to cost of many items. I shop Lidl and Tesco, with cards in both, and also have a Morrisons one for occasional visits.

The fencers finished at midday. They’ve done well, it looks a bit stark at the moment as all my other fencing is painted black. Once it’s painted it will be fine. Although they swilled the area down afterwards, it didn’t make much difference so I spent two hours this afternoon cleaning up.
